Marcel, do you agree this car is not :

    - 0223/EU ?

    - 0231/EL ?

    - 0239/EU ?

    - 0251/EU ?

Then, which car could it be except 0243/EU ?

I spoke with Giorgio Volpe, Giovanni's son, last night.

He is emphatic that his father did not visit Le Mans 24 Hours in 1955 with 0243EU.

Also, the car was registered in Naples, with an "NA" registration number before he took it to Venezuela, so that shows it's not 0243EU as well.

    BTW:

No one has yet been able to identify the Silver LWB Series 1 410 SuperAmerica that Carl de Bickero owned in the 1960s/70s whilst living in Chicago. This was before he owned the similar series 2 SWB 0715AM.

My personal guess is that it was the re-numbered prototype, 0471AM, from the show chassis, 0421AM, but that's just a guess. Something to do with the spotlights? Other ones it could have been are 0491AM or 0489AM. Carl cannot now remember who he bought it from, sold it to.

    Anyone know?

    OK, thanks.

Then, the Le Mans Vignale coupe could be 0251/EU before modification.

Any chance it could also be 0241/EU ?? All sources say Touring berlinetta but "0241/EU" s/n is in a perfect range for a 1952 Vignale coupe...

You spoke of 0421AM but it was 0423/SA probably renumberered to 0471/SA (PF job 15251)...

    Thank you, Aardy.

Back to 0243EU. Giovonardi Volpe, first owner, would like to know: Is it still there? Or in South America?

    Thank you.

I don't know. I just hope the car is in good hands now and won't suffer the fate of 0251/EU which became a stupid Touring barchetta replica.

Could be: same bumper as 0251EU in 1957, but rear window seems different at this stage.

    And what about 0241/EU ??

No Touring number known, any chance it could be a Vignale coupe ?

    Hi Guys,

A happy holiday to all! I hope you've got your cars out and running. Just taken my XK120 for a 20 mile drive... Heaven!

Seriously, I'm amazed that no one has yet worked out the chassis number of Carl de Bickero's old Silver series 1 LWB 410 SuperAmerica. Anyone have any ideas?

Did you notice the Carl de Bickero's silver 410 SA had same radio antenna and external mirror than 0497/SA (today repainted red in bad condition with Medlin) ??

It is 0497SA, went to USA when Bonnier could not find a buyer in Sweden.

    Thanks to Aardy and Kare.

Carl is very excited to learn that the 410 is only 90 miles away from where he lives! He has more old photos that Walter Medlin may be interested in.

Color could be yellow? Does it still exist? I have many old snapshots of Ferrari, out of old albums.

0251EU is said to have been rebodied by Fantuzzi as a barchetta. It would be great if you would post your old snapshots. Perhaps create a new thread for them.

When we talk about Ferrari and history, this has to count for that also. I love stuff like this.
Great thread and such great info.

Carl's 375 that he sold to Slattery was another of his interesting cars. Quite a few unique body trim items that I recall.

Since 1970 0251 EU is a "Barchetta Touring" replica, or better a look-a-like.
Last seen in Japan, there since about 1991.
0251 EU was originally an ivory/black painted Vignale Coupé (see Marvin van der Geld's great bw photo), in the 1960s it was decapitated into a Vignale Spider (simply the roof cut off) and the chassis frame shortened in France. And then in 1970 rebodied by Fantuzzi into a "Touring Barchetta".
