No, the top 10 qualifying positions have their tyre choice locked, not the top 10 starting positions, and Kimi qualified 7th.

The grid penalty is added onto his qualifying position.

So Kimi starting in 11th place has his tyre choice locked, whilst Bottas now starting in 10th place gets a free choice of tyres.

Sadly i will miss the race tomorrow...hope i can have some fun reading you guys later....if i have wifi i willtry toread..hope for a Merc clash at the start!!

 

Inspired to do Q2 on Super Sorts, so he's the only one in the top 10 starting on that compound and from pole. Honestly, as long as he comes out of turn 1 ahead of Rosberg, it's in the bag.

At the very least, barring any serious mishaps, I'd say he's going to get a podium.
