I am looking at a 328 in the Houston area and need a knowledgable mechanic to perform a PPI.
Can anyone suggest someone they trust?
    Thanks

Won't you have to dry it out first?

Both Ferrari of Houston and Ferrari of the Woodlands will not do a PPI. Curious way to not do business. Has anyone else ran into this?

    Not unusual.

They don't want to fool with the potential liability.

Places are shying away from doing PPi's because of the liability. Too many clueless owners who have had them done and then something goes wrong with the car turn around and sue the place that did the PPI.

IMO compression/leakdown numbers for a potential car can be very valuable, but beyond that a PPI is nothing more than a false sense of security. Cars break just like anything else at any given moment

    This.

Look it over yourself. Look at the paperwork and documented service history and do a title check (Carfax type of thing). Run a magnet around the car or one of those little paint thickness tools. Put pictures up here.

If it passes all that and the compression/leakdown look good, you are most likely going to be fine.

Good Luck finding ANYONE to do a PPI these days.

They are just not worth it to the shop. NO "Up-Side" and ALL "DOWN-SIDE."

However, I bet a shop would be happy to give you suggested areas to inspect yourself and suggest tools that could be used.

2nd a Concours Judging sheet might also be good to have "On-Hand," along with the Parts Catalog (and becoming very familiar with it to start with) for the year of the car you are looking at.

    Just some random thoughts.

I know of at least one case where a dealer has done a PPI and advised against purchase and then the same car has ended up in that dealers stock for sale.
