If there are some agreements in place that were broken, I'd think that would play a part in it. As to the part reproduction/competing services, I don't see why there would be a problem.
Our vendors are providing a good source for products, knowledge and services to Fchat and the membership. Perhaps it would be best to start a "sponsor sticky" section for highlighting sponsors new developments. It directs the interested people to the appropriate area and doesn't contaminate every thread. It limits the "sham wow" factor and limits potential feelings of being ambushed by other members. The 355 market thread that Robb started was a great way to funnel the endless value threads and posts to one section. Those that are interested look. Those that are not don't have to see it everywhere all the time. Simply a suggestion on my part.
I think We are all lucky to have Dave on here again. Let others copy Dave and sell for less if they think they can. I buy from others on here and Dave as well. Free market is allways good. Dave I need 30 and send me the bill. You Rock
Yes I do. Not forsale though 😀. As with Robb's market thread, I think it keeps it clean and people know where to go. It makes sense and is good for vendors. It also serves as a main source for all of us to look and see what is being offered. Many threads with non specifics may be missed.
I'm no expert on car parts, but isn't it typical for set both a wholesale and retail price for a specific part? Let's say in this case, the wholesale price is $6 per insert and the retail price is $10 per insert. Then, Dave sells them to customers at $10 each and sells them wholesale to Ricambi for $6 each who resells them to customers at $10 each. That way, everyone is happy and Dave is happy to have several companies resell his inserts for $10 each as long as he gets his $6 each for them. What am I missing? Isn't this how it normally works? .
Ron, you are correct, however we prefer to sell direct and keep the price low for the customer. I think folks can see that wheel inserts won't be big business. I'm truly doing this to bring value to the community. What I get from it is more support which will help strengthen my name and business with the Ferrari community. I do all of my own work on my cars and like to create useful tools. We have more tools and accessories in development. Many are ready for production but are just awaiting open time in our shop. That's how we can afford to do this stuff, fitting in when we have gaps.
Rob, To me, having re-read this thread, this says it all. At the end of the day, it doesn't matter what we think about the product, or free markets, or competition. At the end of the day, only thing that matters is a person's word. And if Dave broke his to you, or you broke yours to him or your other sponsors by allowing this product on here, well, that says it all. If it's a breach of an agreement you had, then it needs to get fixed. D
Then I see no problem with your selling products that are outside your sticky domain. I'm not sure then what Rob could be referring to. Maybe you know? D
Dave, with respect to Rob and Ricambi, let's let this go or let Rob respond. Much appreciated. Thank you.
Dave didn't break any agreements, Daniel did by hijacking Dave's thread. Daniel feels warranted, so I've agreed to leave it open to get some community feedback. Daniel and Robbie's main concern was that Dave or his plants would hijack their threads and he hasn't, but if nothing else gets worked out by Daniel breaking the agreement then in theory Dave can now hijack theirs.
Rob, I won't be hijacking Daniels or Robbie's thread as it's plain wrong and a commitment I made. I have no issue with ethier guy and I would only hope they see it's not personal. I was a Ricambi customer (not exclusive) which is evident by my oil change document and links to Ricambi parts.
okey dokey. Good luck to all parties. Dave - my apologies for assuming you were the one in breach, the longstanding history of Daniel as a stand up guy may have swayed my opinion. Play on, I'm out. D
Dave, I wish to go on record and say Daniel is a good guy. This is not personal. We have already exchanged emails a few months back and I told him that.
and the agreement is more a truce, not a hard rule. Daniel obviously thought this was serious enough to hijack Dave's thread. I think it would have been a mistake for me to jump on either side without having a little more discussion.
Hats off to everybody for civil and well informed comments in this thread. A refreshing change to say the least. At the risk of kicking what is possibly a very, very, very dead horse....... Remember, that if anybody thinks they have proprietary intellectual property reflected in their product or process, the norm is to patent said IP. In this case, this device is not terribly unique or highly processed or modified and indeed not patented, so Dave or anybody else is free to innovate, modify, adapt, improvise or improve upon as they see fit. In the end, free markets are designed to deliver better products to the consumer. Now I will shut up. Really!
I have dealt with Daniel as so many others and I can not remember 1 bad comment about him. I understand him standing up for his buisness because I do feel that sometimes buisness is personal. Daniel is a standup guy and allways will be, along with Dave. Anyone in buisness knows it stings when someone comes up with something cheaper or even worse cheaper and better, but I think I know Daniel well enough that he is not loosing sleep over it. Just defending what he loves and I do not blame him for his comments. Been there myself before.
I spent the day golfing and didnt get to read this until late tonight. Most of what I would have said has been said. Dave makes and will continue to make the best product out there. Many in here in the past have complained about the "Ferrari tax" on many parts and now we have someone who is completely counter to this rule. We can only be happy about what Dave is doing and to top it off, he makes it better, cheaper and he makes it in the USA! What more can any of us ask for? Im sure we will see many more things come out of Dave's shop in the future and I love it. I also like the way Rob handled this.
Great suggestion. I see the constant advertisement on every subforum thinly veiled as a public service announcement as an insult to my intelligence. While many applaud competition for price and improving the product aren't fchaters bothered by the ethics? Clearly "stickyRx" uses part of the name "sticky no more" and that creates brand confusion. How would ferrari act if you called your car a ferrarO and copied a 458 and started promoting them like corvettes? Then there is not just advertising of an alternative in the backyard of the inovator of that alternative but claim or imply superiority. Then we have copying of Hill engineering inserts and HVAC panels. This is not being done by the chinese but an fchater at the expense of other fchaters. Underlying the claimed inovations is simple plagiarism. The only word I have for all this is "unethical."
Please tell me why Ricambi or anyone else has to make 40% on us? on Dave's product If he's willing to sell at 6 dollars? what you are missing is that we don't owe these other company's anything if a seller wants to sell something cheaper.Funny how the price's came down after Dave put his on the market.
