Twisted, incomplete facts much? Rosberg was the first to use the unauthorized engine map to try to beat Hamilton. Hamilton did the same in return in the following race. Both got their hands slapped.

As I've previously posted, stereo typing as it might be, Ricciardo is an Aussie, and they do have a reputation for speaking their minds when things go wrong, especially when it's through no fault of their own.

In light of what has happened in the last two races, I don't think he has been out of order to publicly state how he feels - He needs to air his frustrations, and even the team have admitted that in both races they got things wrong for him and let him down.

I'm sure that if Red Bull felt Ricciardo was out of order making the public statements that he has made then they'd pull him up straight away and tell not to do it again (I don't get the impression that Red Bull are shrinking violets when it comes to reprimanding their drivers!).

As for all the Hamilton b:censored:ks from other posters that has infested yet another completely unrelated thread: Take it somewhere else for crying out loud! - Not everything in F1 has to come back to Lewis bloody Hamilton!

I agree that Alonso is the real wheelman of the F1 bunch, but every team he's moved to has gone downhill. Renault picked up when they got a driver alongside Alonso that the engineers could work with, then fell again when that driver moved on.

It may be that Alonso's talent is his own enemy - he can drive bad cars, so he leads engineers down bad paths. I'm glad to see him away from Ferrari. A great driver can only do so much, and a good driver can win with a great car.

I think you may very well have hit nail -> head there.

Ronnie was another from the same 'mold' I believe - Could drive any ol' POS quickly, and would answer the engineers Q's as honestly as he could, but he really had no idea what was going on! He'd give 'em the answers he thought they wanted, and they'd go off down that path, which may or may not have been a good idea.....

    Damn fine jockey though.

    Cheers,
    Ian

Very insightful comments by both Tervuren and Ian, excellent comparison. Ronnie had an indomitable spirit, Fernando is unrelenting yet both always respected their competitors. Two drivers I admire greatly.

Hmmm, I certainly think that's possible but I've never heard of anyone saying Alonso was lacking in technical knowledge, quite the opposite actually. Looking at Ferrari now I'd have to say they are in no better shape than the Alonso years. 2009 to 2010 was a leap forward for Ferrari and they usually had a top three car in those years. Tombazis had been quoted as saying that the 2015 machine was mainly his design and it did quite well beating the Mercs from time to time. This year's car seems to be a step backwards instead of forwards. I really just think he's been horribly unlucky, always at the wrong team at the wrong time.

Look at the data - this years car is *much* faster than last year's car. Its just Merc had more in reserve.

And he had a tendency to pick bad teams like Alonso.

Well it's supposed to be faster than last year. It's just still not fast enough. Red bull has picked up more than Ferrari has. I think the split is something like 2 seconds faster than last year while RB has picked up around three.

Just watched Ricardo's full interview with Buxton.
If the OP is Officially No Longer a Fan Of Ric... He just picked up one in myself.

Personally I would have blown my top at team RBR.
He handled the Monaco fiasco as well as anyone could have possibly expected especially in RBR's current position in the sport.

Same. He was bluntly honest and open about the situation. He even called himself ******.

If he weren't pissed right now, then he would have zero chance of being world champion in the future IMHO.

Issues like this are insanely frustrating. Athletes usually say far worse really, they just aren't always wired for sound.

That is very true ..... I've over-driven my car on the track and dropped many seconds but going back to concentrating on smooth and correct apexing returns the speed.

A lot of commentators said Alonso was over-driving the car but that would have been incorrect as I believe like you that he, like Schuey, got near enough to 100% of the car's ability out of it ..... nice point :)

Rumour has it that Ricci will be compensated financially by RB for the 'win' which was taken away by the team screw up.

Around $1 Mio.. maybe that will cheer him up a lil bit ?

I heard that one on the Sky broadcast too.

I'm sure it doesn't hurt, but would bet he'd rather have the top step any day of the week.

At the end of the day, he'll almost certainly (barring a terrible accident really) be in F1 for the next 8 or so years, in that time that million more or less will pale to what his his bank account looks like then (even now he surely has a networth of over 20m, Red Bull 2014 he started earning 6m base, excluding bonus which at Red Bull is very big, much more than any other teams). But a thrown away win at Monaco will hurt.

I don't think Ricci was on that much I thought 2-3m from 2014 and more as of 2015

And he has bonuses built into his current contract. Are the 1mill they are giving him what he would have got for a win? Surely they would have given him extra for compensation

I am sure he will get many more wins anyway but I guess Monaco hurts

I'm thinking that RB are a bit concerned that he might jump ship to join Seb ,again. If he jumps into Kimi's seat that would be quite a big pay rise.Who would not like to race for Ferrari?

Ok the car needs a bit of tlc but they seem to be getting there..slowly.

True enough. So either Mercedes which is locked down i think...so that leaves Ferrari or maybe Red Bull .So who will produce the best car for 2017?
