They do a pay as you go model for F1 too… so not as drastic an investment as you make out.

There will be NO rose tint thick enough to make up for the dreadful sound of today's "power units". Go listen to the '90s V-12s through 2000s V-10s on Youtube or elsewhere to remember what REAL engines sound like.

There might be if Formula One becomes an all electric motor formula along the lines of Formula E, as some are predicting! - Then there'll be people stating that they even miss the old Hybrid V6 noise! ;)

Anyone remember when the RPM's used to be between no less than 14 and up to 20 grand?

    That was exciting.

Yes. The went higher than 20. I think some peaked at 22 or 24. Those were the days.

I don't think F1 can even afford to go full electric, no matter what some are saying. Full electric is a death sentence for F1. Tracks will cancel their contracts (they definitely won't make a buck anymore), so a rival series to be set up will have it easy (it's currently in the rules that IF a rival series emerges, tracks on current calendar are not allowed to host them during the same year as F1.

It'll be so easy to stomp a new series out of the ground then. Claim invironmentally friendly **** by running hydrogen combustion engines (noise!), support trucks ride in on electric/hybrid trucks. Support races can be easy, Formula 2.0, 3.5 and Ferrari Challenge for instance. It's actually a shame that the FIA runs the proper Historic F1 series...can you imagine having that in the programme too for some races?

Honda went to 21K with the V10

I think it was Cosworth that tested their V8 to 24K on the dyno before it ate itself...absolutely mental! They ran it to 22K during a session once I believe.

@Bob, not quite as high as 14K to 20k...at certain hairpins they dropped to around 6-8K...but your point stands ;).

Not much difference between IndyCar and F1. So much for the 'pinnacle of technology'. Just pathetic.

He is talking about SKY in the UK. Those same options don't apply to NZ or any other country that has SKY.

    Has anyone tried this?

I have another "solution", but this looks promising if you're looking for Sky coverage.

    Cheers,
    Ian

OK, so I poked at it a little more - You definitely need to be "in" the UK before it will let you sign up.

Easily solved via a VPN - Many free options, but as noted previously, I happily pay strongvpn.com for my "move".

    Cheers,
    Ian
