I agree and cannot dispute anything you have said. Please see my added sentence above in post 45, because I respect and appreciate the effort you put into making this place civil. Sorry for sometimes making your job tougher.

 

I'm not going to report posts. If you want the job of moderator, then moderate. You read the posts and you decide what's 'right or wrong'

That's not what i meant Andrew, it's the exact oposite as i feel you know better then Rob what's going on around here. I do believe you do the best you can and believe me,i know it's a hard work and many times i admit we don't make it any easyer for you.

 

Take it easy guys. It's just a discussion and debate. More like a friendly banter. There are times i don't agree with Bas's posts, and there are times I do. But i find him to be a very genuine person, just like most of you all are.

It's just passion. For what it's worth, i think 7 days is a bit too harsh, but then again, i don't make the rules. Rather, just sit back and enjoy the action on track boys and girls, and pray that Rosberg crashes into Hamilton the next race!!

 

No he doesn't, some people post total garbage about how good they think Elton is, and don't like the fact that someone as sensible and knowledgeable as Bas asks pertinent questions of their skewed reasoning and makes their opinion look half-baked at best and delusional at worst.

Again, it's not a crime to dislike Elton as a driver or person, despite the best efforts of some to try to convince the world otherwise.

Forza Ferrari, and best of luck to Nico to hopefully spank Elton this year where the Ferrari can't do it for itself

For those of you who get so crazed about Toil and his posts... you know right now he's sitting at home quite please with himself that this entire discussion became pretty much about him. Congratulations.

Yes, but in a way "itschris" is right: no-one should give the trublion (is it the same word in English than in French; well, actually I have another, older, out-of-fashion french word in mind) so much importance.
I pay no intention whatsover at what he writes, and this without putting him on "ignore" because what he says makes no sense to me, I have better things to do than arguing in endless debates, and that's all; he can do and write whatever he pleases, and he sure is absolutely convinced that he understands everything about Formula One (which I slightly doubt...)
As for myself, I'm slightly less active in this F1 forum these last few weeks, because I don't like how the climate has evolved, and that's all. Seems that except in a small number of threads, the same debate is never very far.

Dear Bas should never have got involved in a heated argument. I can understand Andrew's reason ("Dura lex, sed lex") but to have Bas banned, even only for a week, is indeed a pity, and to me the most worrying part: having a knowledgeable, loyal, member of the true Formula One afficionados put aside because of these endless debates is not a good sign.

Are you being smart because you're one of the members who got sucked into his game time and again and feel a bit silly now... and maybe a bit defensive about it? I don't know, I don't follow everyone's posts that closely.

 

Is F1 Chat better or worse that Toil gets banned? I don't know. I picture him as a 23year old kid sitting in his parent's basement with his face glued to his laptop. I don't know. That's just how I see it.

But does it say more that he's an uber-fan who blindly cheers his favorite driver and posts opinions that sometimes fly in the face of facts, or that there a group of us who simply cannot disengage from his antics? Again, I don't know. I read his posts like everyone else and I'm simply not bothered. I love this sport and like talking about it as much as anyone else, but I gravitate towards the thoughts and opinions of those who are balanced or can at least explain why they think the way they do and be intellectually honest about those opinions when need be. I can mentally filter the rest out. Blindly hating or loving one driver or the next or pontificating about their skill level in uneven circumstances is just the part I try to ignore. If everyone just ignored Toil and other like him, they'd either go away on their own or just change their ways.

 

LOL oh you give him far too much credit for his affect here and certainly not on me. Im sure when Im not here the press does not stop. Same for him. Its just F1 chat. Wow.

 

I, in general do not quote his posts out of respect for those who simply dont want to see his inputs. Its easy. Default ignore. Not rocket science.

Like some others, I visit this section less and less now due to the predictable Toil - anti-Toil content that seems to infect every thread and stifle the intelligent debate and insight.
