So if the garage is on fire and you only have time to save ONE car of your collection, which one would it be and why???

My 500 which was customized for me many years ago; Cromodora mag wheels are irreplaceable. Believe it or not, the 308 would be easier to replace.

The point of thread seems to have been missed and maybe should have been posted in another area on this site as I usually post to subscribed areas, and in addition, maybe it should have been directed at those with collections.
I currently have a modest collection of 11 vehicles, and often am asked which I like best. I usually answer, that they all offer different qualities so it's hard to say which I like best. Then one day someone asked, "If you could only keep one, which would it be, price not being the object?" This is why I posted the thread. I added the garage fire scenario, because this situation happened to a friend, luckily all ended well, but it got he and I both thinking.

If you don't like this thread or its not for you, move on. If you're frustrated in that your decisions of what to save are between a minivan, '95 Corolla, or that sweet Scwhinn ten-speed, then again, maybe this thread holds no interest to you. Kerrari gets it. I, like many others, have formed many friendships and connections through F-chat. These relationships have helped in some of my purchases and I've helped others with their purchases. Overall there seems to be much mutual respect between f-chatters and moderators as a whole. Yet, others here find satisfaction by derailing threads. Whatever floats your boat.
That's my 2-cents. I can take it or leave it when it comes to this thread....

    All the best.

Out of my '85 Porsche 930 targa, '91 Diablo, '97 F355 Spider, and 997tt, I would save my 930. If I could save another it would be the Diablo.

Voda, I think it's a great hypothetical question. As you say, maybe this febrile section of the board is not the best place to post it. I have thought of posting a similar question myself. As to the answer, I am still thinking. (Maybe it's a slow fire.) I hope others also answer in good faith.

    My Wife/dogs/cats/family photos/family heirlooms/my "special" guitars...................in that order.

I am sure all my cars would be gone by then, but the important things in my life would be safe.

But then I would drive the Ferrari out of the garage on fire if I could, I drove my Lotus a short distance while it was on fire, I can tell you it is very easy to get out of a car that is ablaze!

Dog - because the wife will not leave without her - then the wife. Mother in law? She's on her own; but that OK, she's tough, a little fire ain't gonna kill her. ;)

Cars? Screw 'em. That is what insurance is for...T

I can't believe that folk have hijacked your thread.

It's a pretty simple question.."Which of your CARS would you save" not the dogs, cats, missus, friggen goldfish etc.
One would have to imagine all the REALLY important things had been taken care of by the time you have thought of your cars..... .02c

For mine it's the 365 over the 308.
    Thanx.

well... it's a little more complicated than that.
    fire..
    ran to garage...
    open garage door...
    decision tree:

    1. Honda - unlock. get in. start car. leave.

    2. Ferrari - disconnect tender. unlock. wait 30 seconds for all checks to complete. push start button. Engine does not fire up. Try a couple more time. still does not work. say a bad word. take key from ignition. lock car. unlock car again. wait 30 more seconds. pray. push start button. car finally starts. leave.

option 2 may result in death as now fire cause house and garage to collapse on operator - remember that OP specified that don't have enough time for both cars.
might be safer to go with option 1.

First pick would be my JD 4020 tractor.

With the tractor and a rope with a hook on the end of it, I could drag out the other cars while the garage they are in burns. :)

The Boxer because I'd have to move the rest to get to it.

I would take my F512M, over the 550 and gated 575 and 430, and 996 Turbo S. To save. Because it feels a bit unhinged, more special, wild, crazy, like very little else.
To drive every day, I would take the gated 575 because it's just a beautiful car and an all-rounder. I don't get the chance to drive my cars every day though, so the F512M it would be.
I hope none of us are tempting fate.

I think it's a good question also but let's refine it a little bit...

"For those of us that have a collection of important or interesting cars, in a hypothetical detached garage, containing no other living things or priceless art or personal belongings and also with no fire suppression system... Instinctually, which car would you attempt to rescue if you could only get one out in a fire"?

    My F12.

This is why I rarely post on FChat anymore...a person posts a simple and obvious question for discussion.
    Then what follows is:
    1. A few answer the question as it was intended...btw, the minority.
    2. A few decide to try and be funny, impressing their invisible readers with their amazing wit.
    3. A few try to deconstruct the question to again try and impress their invisible readers with their obviously superior intellect.
    4. A few are angry and try to derail everything to make up for their pathetic lives.
    5. A few are just too damn dumb to understand the question.

If standing around as a group discussing the question the #2 people above would get a roll-the-eyes and slight smirk from a few in the group...#'s 3-4 would be told to shut up and go away.
If the #5 person is nice and well-liked, generally the group takes pity on the #5 and patiently tries to keep rephrasing the question dropping down ~10 IQ points in content with each attempt until hitting the right level.
