I think you'll find in the coming days or weeks that Omar Mateen was a closeted gay man. His intimate knowledge of this particular club, and what I suspect will be the revelation that he was a regular at the club will prove that out. Not that this makes a whit worth of difference, but ISIS would not welcome a gay man into its ranks. His pledge to the "Islamic State" was his last ditch effort to deny that he was in fact gay. My lovely bride, who has quite a bit of experience with crazy killers, told me this the same day the attack occurred. On original topic. Does anyone need an AR-15? Nope, there is no legitimate civilian application for an AR-15. Most indoor gun ranges won't allow them. You can only shoot them outdoors at longer outdoor ranges. And what, exactly would I use it for? I can't hunt with it, it's illegal. So, that only leaves self defense, and it's not a very effective self defense weapon either, despite this killer's use of it as an assault weapon, which is EXACTLY what it's designed for. Just no good reason to own one, other than, "I wanted one." Which I hope, increasingly, will not be an acceptable reason in the USA. We'll see where this one goes. D
of course, nothing to do with Islam. I think it's great that radical mullahs tour the world and preach the evil of western values to their exclusively male congregation, we need more of this free speech. Of course, we shouldn't allow any Christian/Jewish/Hindu/Buddhist/etc person to say anything critical of Islam, that would cause hurt and anxiety on their part.
Why can't we just send Wes over there to teach everyone how to shoot? Should save thousands of lives.
Just saw this one Facebook and it gave me a little laugh. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Awc5cWVCHHs[/ame]
Totally agree Dave, he even looked a little gay in the selfie he took ISIS will claim anything as their cult slowly dies, it makes them look like more of a threat I see his current wife was in on it as well now
You are fulfilling the role of the "useful idiot" (Google it) by immediately switching the focus to gun laws and joining in the excuses. The left media are all over this dissembling now. Ask Curtis Cheng's family if Australia's gun laws had anything to do with a 16 year old shooting him in the back of the head.
Doesn't that cancel out the notion that law abiding citizens could have prevented the shootings by carrying?
He asked why "gun carrying good Samaritans" don't stop mass shootings. They can't stop mass shootings if they aren't present. Back to Australia. Seems like we need to find a way to ban illegal guns. https://au.news.yahoo.com/nsw/a/31842975/gun-control-looked-at-in-policing-summit/#page1
Most people don't carry, there are restrictions on carrying in many public locations, and it is believed that mass murderers choose gun-free zones; but there are a few reported incidents. Naturally the very act of prevention means we don't know who and how many would have been murdered. But, these are incidents that are believed or the circumstances would suggest that there would have been multiple murders, not just single self-defense incidents. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/volokh-conspiracy/wp/2015/10/03/do-civilians-with-guns-ever-stop-mass-shootings/ 12 Times Mass Shootings Were Stopped by Good Guys With Guns
