Yea thats funny, sadley that spot has been yanked from the Countach many times in the last 20 or so years, supercars are getting wider and bigger with more scoopes and crap than ever, miss the Rod Stuart days, then again this day and age the Countach is bought by real car guys who understand its original intention, to bad some people never got it.

    Totally agree.

In fact, as far back as the 70s & 80s there were some journalists such as Mel Nichols & Peter Robinson who could actually drive, and who understood that the Countach was a serious driver's car.

As a person who purchased Countachs in the 80s when they were still in production, not for one second did I consider them to be garish or cartoon-ish even back then 30 years ago, and my current view considering their proven iconic status is, those who disparage them unnecessarily only put their automotive ignorance on display.

    Absolutely.

I spent the 80's in school so, as a late-comer, I freely admit I did not start to understand the car until I bought a copy of "And the Revs Keep Rising". Start of a journey...

Great writing from a time when superlatives were used sparingly and a journalist was valued for what he actually thought.

Imagine the espresso cups hitting the wall over in Maranello every time a new one of these came out and they read the road tests.

Well you both ARE quite partial to this car ...

But the gold chains, wings and fender flairs etc. were seen that way at the time by quite a few serious car people.

I've been to more than a few Lamborghini parties over the years, many were joint Maserati - Lamborghini parties. Most of the Lamborghini folks I got to know then like Jim & Joan Heady were not of the gold chain ilk and all of the VLG folks I know now certainly are not. But there was another set of folks just like there are now with the modern cars. So I won't concubine the two groups when I speak about how things were back then. ;)

I also do not think it's a requirement to be gaga over any particular model to be a Lamborghini aficionado or to not be an ignorant dolt of a car guy. Well ... anyone who doesn't think a Miura is drop dead gorgeous may have issues! It's like saying I wouldN'T have slept with Bridget Bardot back in the day ... :D It's fantastically exciting to look at.

Me? I get no woody from a Countach but the earliest examples are the most favorable to "look at".

    OK flak suit on INCOMING!

 Nobody is attacking you per se, but when you make a generalized ignorant & disparaging comment about an icon, expect a response, and deal with it. Coming on here and disparaging the Countach is like going into a bar full of Hells Angels and saying Harleys suck :D

If you wanted to be a gentleman you could've left out the word "ignorant". I'm sure you're not so ignorant that you don't understand that word to be pejorative. My subjective opinion/comments (humor intended) were about a car, not a person. Lesson learned, I now know, at least with respect to a few individuals here, that the glorified kit car is not to be ridiculed.

Surely owning a Countach is like saying I would still sleep with Brigitte Bardot now, because of what she was back in the day...? :). Outdated, but with a certain 'je ne sais quoi?'

Once can ridicule any car, let's take the LP580 for instance?

    As I'm a gentleman, I'll go no further :)

There is a time to let some things go and move on.

Joe this is coming from a guy that bought a 348TB brand new and still has it 21 years later LOL! Some people have zero taste or are just pissed they didn't get into a CT when they were $100K.

Were as aggressive as the cars......

But in all honesty, what did you think was gonna happen with your comments? Im sure if someone came into a thread on 348's and said the 348 was/is crushed by a little Honda product called the NSX, someone would come out and be harsh I would think.

If a Countach doesnt get your blood flowing, then maybe a STENT is your only hope boy...

Not fair, you guys are ganging up. Ganging up on a fellow Lamborghini owner. Although it's true that mine doesn't have as much cheesy bric-a-brac on it as a Countach.
