Is it April Fool's Day already???? Bale is absolutely the wrong person to portray Enzo; too young, too much glam, etc. I like the De Niro concept much better. Frankly, the actor from the old James Garner movie Grand Prix was a pretty good pseudo-Enzo! I also hope the F1 scenes don't all portray cars with unbalanced tires like the Ron Howard production was so fond of.

Read that Christian Bale dropped out because of the need to gain much additional weight for the role.

I saw a man the other day that was Enzo incarnate, sun glasses and all; he could play Enzo in his later years.

Di Niro the much better actor and more suited for the role.

IMDB shows it as "in development" with a 2018 release date. Which non-information if I've ever seen it. I'm wondering if it will ever be made, at least by Mann.

In my mind a no-name who closely resembles The Man would be a better choice than a brand name actor who we'd all doubt because he doesn't look the part. But Hollyweird probably doesn't see it that way since the overriding concern is to sell tickets, which is presumably much easier with a high profile star.

The latest rumor (via Autoweek) is that Hugh Jackman will play Ferrari in a "biopic" directed by Michael Mann, set for a 2019 release. It is said to concentrate on the 1950s-60s era. Personally I would have cast Paul Sorvino. I think he would be perfect for the role.

Hollywood economics likely to require a "bankable" star or two. As the budget climbs then the financing wants internationally recognizable names. In their viewpoint the "name" equates to better guarantee on the box office. The "name" also has the ability to pre-sell international distribution funding.

I do hope at least one of the potential films makes it t the screen. Then if it does well financially maybe it means more will get the green light.

I agree. A bankable star is required these days. Somehow I just don't see Jackman in the role.

Love Hugh Jackman but cant picture him as Enzo. Also he is pretty old and I would think the movie would focus on Enzo earlier years racing/building Ferrari. Not much exciting happened after the early 70s

Remember that Enzo was already 50 something when he started Ferrari after WWII.
