Unbelievable. I can skip that second espresso this morning. It's no wonder that attending LeMans is such a bucket list item for so many...T
Stupid Fox stopped the broadcast for Golf. I saw the 82 Ferrari spin. I'm assuming the Ford won. The Corvette guys were complaining that Ford was sandbagging during practice. Corvette was a major disappointment. The little Ferrari 488 team did really well. They were with the Fords all the way. The Ford was a race car that they turned into a street car. The 488 was a street car turned into a race car. Huge difference. Still, the Ford lasted the race with no mistakes so you have to give them that. What was the deal with Audi? They had more nose jobs than Michael Jackson. Every time they came into the pits they removed the nose and screwed around the front end. Toyota.... what a pity. They must be heart broken to be so close and end up losing. Its hard to imagine. I'd rather say Toyota lost then Porsche won. The better car was the Toyota.
What a wild finish. The Audi car #7 which was on Audi Sport live stream seemed to be having some steering issues early on.
I´m really pissed off. Hopefully the karma brings something good for Toyota next year. To add insult to injury, the Ford won at GTE Pro, so now we´ll be hearing their PR BS for at least another 50 years.
Ahhhhh...... the smell of defeat!!!! It is why we race gentlemem. One must accept defeat in order to truly enjoy victory! So.....cry in your beer, kick the cat, complain to your wife and any other activity that will ease your pain. Because tomorrow we wipe the slate clean and try agaiin. And with that I leave you with this.........isn't this stuff a whole lot of fun?? Happily sipping my 50 year old scotch and collecting bets from those who fail to realize that Porsche rules LeMans !!! Resume wimpering!!!
Audi Sport Presse Release... Audi on podium for 18th time in Le Mans 24 Hours Both Audi R18 finish in spite of issues Valuable World Championship points for both Audi squads Audi took positions three and four in the 24-hour race at Le Mans in front of 263,500 spectators, continuing its string of podium finishes in the iconic French endurance race. In a dramatic race that was only decided on the last lap, Lucas di Grassi (BR), Loïc Duval (F) and Oliver Jarvis (GB) clinched third place for Audi at the last moment. Marcel Fässler (CH), André Lotterer (D) and Benoît Tréluyer (F) finished in position four. With that, Audi, in its 18th participation since the brands Le Mans debut in 1999, achieved its 18th podium in succession including 13 overall victories. Unfortunately, neither of our two cars made it over the distance without issues, said Head of Audi Motorsport Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich. This weekend once more showed why Le Mans is regarded as the worlds toughest endurance race. Im proud of our squad having managed to bring both cars home. But, obviously, this is not the result we were hoping for. Congratulations to Porsche on their second victory in succession. Following a tremendous race, Toyota, on making their 18th attempt, again just barely missed finally winning Le Mans that speaks volumes about how incredibly difficult this race is. Due to heavy rainfalls, the field started behind the safety car for the first time in Le Mans history. Following the all-clear for the race, it took André Lotterer only a few laps to advance from grid position five to first place. However, the #7 Audi R18 lost its chance for victory as early as in the second hour when Lotterer, while leading the race, had to pit for a change of the turbocharger. From this point on, Audi Sport Team Joests hopes were pinned on the #8 Audi R18 which, in spite of various incidents, kept pace with the group of the front runners throughout the night and, on Sunday morning, trailed the subsequent winners with a gap of less than two laps. A defective brake disc caused the deficit to increase to twelve laps four hours before the end of the race. As a precaution, the front brake discs were subsequently changed on the #7 sister car Consequently, Audi still achieved its aim in bringing both new cars home and to score valuable points for the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) that will continue with the 6-hour race at the Nürburgring in Germany on July 24.
The headline of this race is going to be the Toyota breakdown.... Porsche won; it's who crosses the line first. As a human, I do feel the Toyota pain Additional headlines.... The Ford vs. (Ferrari, Porsche, Aston, Corvette) corporate war with the ACO is just starting. There are already protests against the results. GTE-Pro was just getting good again, this is the type of political crap that almost killed sports car racing in the past. Risi finished P2, but ignored flags and penalties. The penalty (inoperative leader lights) to me is chicken_it, but I think 2 other teams were called and had to fix and/or serve penalties. Will drop them off podium if upheld....which will give Ford 1-2-3 GTE-AM.....the US guys did it. Segal drove astonishingly well, Sweedler and Bell did great. Segal has won Daytona 24, Sebring and LeMans in past 3 years, along with all or pieces of the IMSA GT championship. Porsche has big issues in GTE-Pro. Ferrari's AF 488's had odd issues - tore the sump on a curb and broke a wheel. Corvette and Aston were just slow. Amazing last hour
Ummm... well, I don´t care so much about Le Mans. But about your comments I´ll only say that gentlemen are graceful in victory...
No, good to see Ford win, sad to see Toyota lose.... The amount of money Toyota spent on F1 and LMP1 to compete for the top spot are just staggering....
+1 How can the Ford pass as a "GT" is beyond me! This car is a fraud. It's not even commercialised as a street car as it should be before being entered in the GTE category. So say the rules!!! Anyone can see Ferraris, Aston Martins, Corvettes and Porsches, but where do you see a Ford GT in the streets? Ford has just driven horses and carriage through the regulations, and the ACO has accepted it. Same when the ACO gave a huge advantage to AUDI to stay at Le Mans.
Where do you see Ford GT in the streets? It's a prototype¬!!! The Ferrari is a real GT, so are the Astons, the Porsche and the Corvettes. The Corvettes got really screwed with the BOP up this year, IMO. The ACO wanted Ford to wine, obviously and gave it a massive break.
There should be protests!! The ACO has orchestrated a FORD victory by accepting them when they are not legal, then playing with the BOP to give them a massive break. If the ACO isn't careful, it will create massive disaffection among manufacturers like in the past, when only 29 cars entered one year.
I was so disappointed...and on the penultimate lap, but a win is a win. Congrats to Porsche for keeping and being able to capitalize on Toyota's misfortune. Looks like Ferrari can't win outside of F1 either...but hey, at least the 458 won the AM right? lol.
Really sad to see Toyota lose it on the last lap. So crushing. Maybe next year will be theirs. As for Ferrari and their inability to win outside F1 - right now they can't even do that, so they are consistent in their mediocre performance across all formulas!
GTE-Pro Race-Winning Ford GT Penalized Post-Race - Sportscar365 Penalties for Ford and Ferrari but finishing order remains same The 107% rule is going to be interesting since the ACO defines the BoP. Ford will have to explain that....though I'd wager nothing will happen and BoP will be adjusted for WEC and IMSA before next rounds
I would say the same for losing also. A competition was run, champions crowned. People stating that people sand bagged or other remarks lessens the value of the sport. Everyone that raced came with their "A" game. If your favorire did not win....that is simply racing. Tomorrow is a new day and we have 365 more days until another champion is crowned. Best to accept the fact it wasn't your day and hope for a better one next year. I am simply glad that all competitors came home safe. That is the best thing that came from today. For they all get to race again. That sir is the most important of the sport
That's another debate, but they're right. You and me and everybody knows that people sand bagged, that the BOP is being constantly adjusted (even the day before the race) and that the ACO is full of s--t. So there are reasons to lessen the value of the sport. Yet, we still are watching. It's a show more than a sport. As long as nobody gets hurt, it' OK for me.
Um no, Porsche won it because they were more reliable. That's why they've won it 18 times. It's called the 24 hours of Le Mans, not the 23 hours and 55 minutes of Le Mans.
