Wow...North Bimini...serious flashbacks  Back in the '80's used to make that run (legitimately) via Chalk's and stay at the Compleat Angler, no longer there :( but a legitimate Hemingway haunt :D

Thanks for reviving the memory - and beautiful boat, beautiful lines.

Chalk's kind of had that issue when one of the wing fell off? Correct?
Here's a short drone vid I did going over the island.
Headed there this morning and then on through the Exumas over the next couple of weeks.

That is a great video - yes, Chalk's had a couple fatalities - the last there was talk of the wing separating - not sure if before/after fuselage hit the water.

Those planes were cool though...I do remember once seeing a fair amount of water weeping around the exit door when taxiing after landing in North Bimini Harbor

Sounds like a great trip, have fun :D

For some reason I can't see the video which I really want to see.

My brother in law is in Atlantis right now but will be headed to the Exumas on a charter next week.

My brother-in-law (who does a lot of work for Westport and some of their special clients) was asked to take over one of their clients' 40m boats for part of the summer.

This is what he's waking up to today. Well, to be honest I am not sure he actually sleeps when he's working so he's probably been up for hours before the sunrise.

LOL. The professional yacht crews that I have had the pleasure of knowing work their asses off. It always looks like a cool job but the work is non-stop and even when the guests leave the boat needs to be polished like a jewel for the next charter.

Beautiful Viking! 55? I like that you had the bow rails brought back all the way to the cockpit. Doesn't seem like many on the east coast have them. Gives you a ton more fishing space if you're on a weedline/paddy.

Thanks. It's a 56'. A little fatter than the 55 but same lines. We've had a great trip in the Exumas on a family vacation this week. No services but the boat carries enough fuel, makes water and ice.. Picture below from the marina.

Sherpa , i just came back from Miami where my buddy just bought a 112 Westport and we brought it back to Sarasota with a crew. What a gorgeous boat. Maybe your bro in law knows it. The old name was Southern somthing , I can't remember and I'm getting old.

Do you remember the name of it? He was the captain on a couple of the 112's in south Florida. He oversaw the renovation on one that recently was put on the market and sold. I think the name was "Something Southern" but I'm really not sure.

Bro , that's the boat !! The new name is Eclipse and it had massive renovations and now resides in Sarasota. Small world.

That's a great boat. Sounds like a fun trip! It's hard to beat a big sportfish. They're so versatile, you can fish hard, take it on a week long cruise...or both! I think that's one of the things I envy most about you guys in south Florida, you can go cruise the Bahamas. We have some islands here, but it doesn't compare. What was your cruise speed when you were running out to the Exumas?

Haha. Yes, he redid that entire boat for the owner. He's a superstar with that stuff.

He captained it up until late last year or earlier this year and then handed to another captain and then the owner decided to sell.

It's a sport fish but mostly rigged for cruising. I bought it so I can run in a broader weather window and have enough speed to run all the way back from some of the longer points if needs.

The boat is 41kts on the pins. Fully loaded with fuel, water, a tender and people I'm 30kts at 1850RPM or 73-75% load. That's about the most efficient. 2000 is about 80% and 32kts.

Right now I'm at Atlantis and a buddy on a 12kt boat is tied up in Bimini due to weather. He can't get here ahead of a storm. It's not a race but sometimes it's nice to have the speed. Thanks.

Definitely not a bad boat to rig for cruising. They're tough and can go through some nasty weather if you get caught in it.

That's not bad with all the weight on board. Do you have auxiliary fuel tanks?

I completely agree, it's nice to have the speed when you want it. If you get some weather building you can run back, or beat it to the next spot. Can't do that on a slower boat or trawler.
