You're not allowed to call people haters anymore. You'll get a ban. No doubt someone will have reported this post as Andrew wanted, but it wasn't me!

Disagreements are fine, but please don't make it personal. Present an alternative analysis instead.

    Addressing two posts:

    Personal attack, one week ban.

    Personal attack, one week ban.

As an aside, I should add that labeling someone a hater doesn't advance your viewpoint in any way, it circumvents any substance in debate and only leads to further name-calling.

It is natural for debate to focus on the reigning world champion, whether he does well or not. Let us please be respectful of one another when we discuss him.

    Many thanks,
    Andrew.

Toto Wolff calls for radio ban to be reconsidered

No Toto. Put your driver in the sim and allow him to learn. Keep the ban as is. The minute its relaxed engineers will resume coaching drivers. Wrong. Fully disagree. Either that or end the tech keeping the drivers up at night and not partying with Snoop-Dog and super models.

Learn the car, drive, do your job. Race.

The likes of Hamilton and Toto Wolff are calling for the radio ban to be lifted when it comes to situations as they had in Baku with their steering switches, but if I were the FIA I would refuse to change the ban and simply tell the teams to make their steering wheel controls much simpler in future if it's causing them problems!

Race was an anti-climax due to F1 aero regs, Mercedes being awfully quick and Red Bull not getting on with their tires at all.

Rosberg may not have been the fastest as Hamilton on Friday, but he seems to have been driving a lot smarter. Concentrate on race pace instead of proving a point. Hamilton on the other hand, boasting that he didn't want to drive in the simulator as he won't learn the track like that...Sure not on a playstation, but on the proper simulator an awful lot of data can be put in to a) learn the track better and b) learn more about engine modes and how to fix issues that may arise and your engineer can't help you out with....Didn't both of those little facts give him a solid kick in the nuts!

That said, I do find the rules a bit stupid, and I'm sure I made the comment when the regulation change was made. Radio comms are good for the sport and they give the fans insight in what goes on. It IS complicated, but, like other drivers said, do your bloody homework then. Some young kid learned how his new car worked within 1.5 weeks and he won a race with it just a few weeks back...

Ferrari did well this race again, their race pace compared to Red Bull is astounding. Last week I gave them the benefit of cold weather working against the Bulls but it seems they really do have a fundamental tire problem. Something they changed in suspension recently is working seriously against them it seems. Or is Ferrari's rear suspension doing really well?

Vettel shows why he's a 50m man at Ferrari. The man is so clever. He knew how fast the Mercedes was, didn't bother chasing it once 2nd was secured. Made the right call at the pitstop, too. Kimi drove a fantastic race, got a bull**** penalty for something others have done during the race multiple times but received NO penalty for it. Didn't bother defending his position against Perez, because with the penalty he was never going to maintain that 3rd. If he never had that penalty he would've finished 3rd easily. Vettel even said he would've given the place back if needed...Both drivers stayed in till after 1 in the morning after the friday running to figure out how to improve the car, btw.

Perez once again shining, Hulkenberg not in the picture. Very happy for him, and that quali lap he did was amazing.

Rosberg faultless quali/race, managed to fix the issue that Elton had with ease. Elton once again proved his moaning ways when things don't go his way. His comment on gambling the race away by going to press every button....Good god. And you must hear him when he wins and Rosberg is battling an issue. It's all him then...

RBR. Great quali from Ricciardo, Verstappen desperately unlucky by being blocked by Bottas, then on his following fast lap (was on par with Perez by sector 2), the red flag came which really complicated matters...the single run he may have been able to do was ruined by Bottas again (!), though he made a legitimate overtake, that already meant that both laps would be ruined regardless, because of his abnormal line. Really not thinking there, Bottles. Verstappen's race pace compared to Ricciardo proved he definitely isn't slow...Ricciardo definitely a star in qualifying, but race pace Verstappen is quite special IMO.

Williamses...fastest stop of the season I think, 1.92...if not the fastest. Zero points for that, though. Bottas decent race, defended well, but car is just not going forward quick enough and falling into Force India's clutches.

Think that's about it. Side note: More whinging from Grosjean, Mclaren still ****.

I suspect that because this is a new track the simulators won't be particularly good yet.

I know where Lewis is coming from. In my 575M , I have a sport button. It can be ON or OFF. I would call the wife to ask if it should be ON or OFF, but the car predates effective blue tooth.

To a certain point I agree, it can learn you the track flow, which a decent F1 driver should be able to do in not too many laps on the track in real life. But, if he actually spend some time on the simulator, he would've know how to get out of his wrong setting predicament, the latter more being my point.

+1 the tech is the problem of the teams to make work. They all apear to want it and yes the FIA has a play in this with Bernie. But the teams can create presentation systems to help the drivers.

Frankly, I cannot believe the teams have not simply created a coded message system. Kimi was asking for help and said on the radio surely you can just say yes or no. The team responded we can't.

I laughed thinking to myself why not just tell the driver to ask a yes or no question and if we respond: You "kNOw" we can't answer that, then the driver knows it is a NO answer.

Conversely, if I wanted to respond with a "YES" the team would answer "we can't answer that" and the driver would know it is a yes.

Of course, they may have and Kimi's question was actually a coded question. LOL so what do I know. ;)

The "best drivers in the world" should be adept at using all of the controls in the car, from the accelerator and brake pedal to the array of silly knobs and buttons. If Toto needs to dumb the car down for Lewis, or send Lewis to steering wheel school...that's his problem. But, stop lobbying for engineers giving directions to drivers in overly complicated cockpits.

I wonder if having designating specific aero packages for particular tracks would make a difference. Then again, even if it could, the FIA would do the absolute wrong thing. I thought the race was incredibly boring. The minute one car drives off into the sunset, the race just takes on a different vibe for me.

I think it's interesting that Nico, even as Championship Leader and race winner just doesn't garner the attention of even the mid-packers. It's not that he's unlikable, but he just doesn't get the fandom that others do. The stupid "yee haw" after the win probably didn't help.

Could you imagine Lauda being so uninformed about his car as was Lewis? Hammy , more more time with Lauda, less time with Beiber, got it?

He's a pretty boring guy IMO. It's weird but some guys just have ''It'', some don't.

    He's quite characterless IMO.

Kimi, Vettel, Ricciardo, Elton...all have characters (whether you like them or not is a different thing), which is part of the reason why people like (or dislike) a driver.

Off track I think he can be very likable, but he keeps his private life very private. But he's good friends with many drivers. It's just his persona ''at work'' (in the car and out of it within circuit confines) that's extremely boring.

That lack of character would be especially weird considering that his father had plenty and was very colorful, for those of us old enough to remember him...
