On the rare occasion that I go out for my favorite breakfast of all time, chicken fried steak and eggs, I usually ask for extra gravy on the hashbrowns too. :)

Yes and it's awesome. Filipinos have been holding out on us.

The former girlfriend is Portuguese. Her family made these round potato balls baked golden brown in the oven, olive oil and some paprika based sauce. All her family and Portuguese friends. Her mother was involved in their Catholic Church, so had many social church things at their house. They all put Mayo on the potato's.

Longganisa, banana ketchup, adobos, lechon, kare kare. Pancit, lumpia, sinigang, pata, lechon kawali.

So much good food. A lot of it is not pretty or appealing but it's so flavorful.

I live in a Navy town so we have a large Filipino community here. Several places that sell pretty amazing lumpia. Adobo is good too.

Go for breakfast some time and get a plate of rice, fried eggs and longganisa hamonado. The longganisa hamonado is a sweet and garlic sausage usually with pork. Put some soy sauce on the rice and go to town. So good.

Made an error in judgement and ordered Pizza Hut. Its kind of the McDonalds of pizza, need one or two times per year. The problem they are trying to be healthier and have less trans fat. The grease was part of the experience and what made them kind of good. I liked how it crystalized the crust. But now its just regular kind of mushy average pizza.

I will have to find a place that does that. I've heard of longganisa and may have had it but I can't recall off hand. We used to have an admin assistant who was one of the senior members of the local Filipino community. Every time we had a pot luck or some kind of feed there were always copious amounts of Lumpia and Pancit at the very least.

I order from Pizza Hut or Dominos once in a great while. And as soon as I see the crap they sold me I'm pretty much sorry I ordered it. But I also usually only do it late at night when nothing else is available and I've more than likely had a drink or three, nothing else is really available, and I'm not going to drive to go find what is.

For the once every other year urge to relive our college years and order pizza, we get Dominos. We did semi-homemade pizza. Pre-made dough. One light cheese, light sauce, crispy crust, one with mushrooms, bell pepper and onions for wife and I. Came out pretty good. Went a bit longer on the pre-baking of the dough than I usually do, so crust was nice and crispy. Tasty with a few drops of ghost pepper hot sauce! 😋

I used to order Pizza Hut all the time in the early 90's. In the late 1990's I switched to Dominos for a time. Long story, short. I've met the guy who holds the master franchise rights for Canada. He wanted to take his company public. But Dominos USA wouldn't allow my Dad and him to do it. I still have their pizza sometimes.

In chains Dominos is probably the best in the USA. Second or third here behind two Canadian chains. My go to when living in the states was Pizza Hut. I didn't try Dominos until around 1997-8 when my Dad was working on a deal to take the Canadian master franchise public. Dominos USA didn't want to basically create two Dominos. That and the original master franchise holder did go public and the stock tanked. Its pretty good pizza. I think the last few years to compete they've gone to cheaper ingredients.

As I've gotten older (and healthier) I've switched to making my own pizza. I used to be a Pizza Hut fanatic, but now I can't stand even one greasy slice. I take an individual serving of Naan bread which is low carb/high protein and I then I add organic tomato sauce, red pepper flakes, organic mozzarella cheese, onions, bell peppers and free-range turkey pepperoni. It's filling, nutritious, and satisfies my craving for pizza.

Pizza Hut at least here has cut most of the grease out of their pizza. They created healthier choices. I kind of liked the grease.

Naan. Interesting. You cook yours in the oven, grill, pizza oven? I was cogitating the other day about making pizza from tortillas. Mexican pizza! 😀 Like a tostada but not fried.

Wife just texted me this pic from Costco! 😀
Barring Brexit bringing the world to an end, we're moving back home this weekend. Reno is done.

I preheat the oven to 400 while I'm assembling the pizza and then then it requires around 10 mins of cooking time.

Congrats on the renovation completion. Steaks looks great. We dealt with a food broker who only brokered for Costco. His brother is senior VP with Costco, he's in charge of Kirkland products and all foods produced by or labeled Costco. Never met the brother, but our guy says he is the pickiest person on the planet when it comes to quality and having the Costco or Kirkland name on it. Costco is nuts in general. Say you have a refrigerator product at Costco. They specify everything, bottle size, box size, etc. Even the temp when it reaches the warehouse. If they say it must be 33 degrees and its 34 when they test it. Not only do they send it all back. They mark each bottle, so you can't chill it and resend it.

    I agree! 😋

Thank you. Bug the manager! Actually, we've never seen tomahawk chops at Costco before. I've only bought them at a specialty butcher before.

I have heard likewise about Costco. That's why I'm surprised that Chip got a clunker of a prime rib eye last week.

I'm just excited to get back in my own house. And, to my grills.

Congrats and enjoy! That steak looks tasty indeed!!

Looks like it will be good. I make Kaluha pork once in a while. Pork shoulder toss it in a crock pot with just salt and a little liquid smoke. Add in some cabbage about an hour before dinner time and serve with rice and your choice of condiments.

I've never seen them either. In fact I was surprised last week to only see a very small section of "prime" beef at my Costco. I ended up with choice NY's and I was honestly disappointed with mine. Good flavor but it had a real tough streak about 1/3 in down one side.

I might go see what they have that looks decent tomorrow. Cooked up some ahi the other night I bought last week. Was tasty!!!

I find if you get a bad product at Costco, complain and they usually take care of the problem.

Speaking of Costco. I was in a hot dog mood. Grabbed two at Costco.
