So, I got sucked into this ad they always put on the border or margin of any website or webnews, and it said "Meet 20 inventors killed by their invention". I found this and said "What the hell". Of all things, killed in a flying Pinto. It must have been the shape that attracted him to the car, as the Skymaster looked like it would just bolt on. Bizarre way to go....until they come up with anti gravity. But by then we will have the transporter.

I just watched the video. Amazing. They even had distribution set up through a leading ford dealership.

    Read about this years ago.

    Pinto is heavy.
It was over gross without fuel or passengers.

That was an AMC Matatador IIRC......and the actual flying scenes was a RC plane.

That was the Chevy Corvair I, not the Pinto.

The book also talked about other safety issues for occupants, pedestrians, etc.

In 72 I was afraid of getting a ticket after an intersection light turned green and the Pinto wagon could not make it across before the light turned red. I installed a Garrett AirResearch turbo and it changed the character of the car.

    Sorry for the hijack.

    Best regards,

    Robert

They planned to use the 'Pinto Plane' but it crashed just before the film was made, so they used an RC model.
