Dealers are already booking slots for the next F12M. They are not taking deposits as I understood, but asking for written confirmation of interest.

Anyone has any update on this?

Signed CoI couple of weeks ago. Dealer also stated Geneva 2017. Could probably get 2017 delivery. (unless tailor made I guess?)

It's interesting, the F12 will be the first Ferrari to have an hardcore version as well as an updated version.

The question is , will the F12M still be a F12, like the 575 is still a Maranello... or a new model, like the lusso is

I thought we all knew what to expect? It will incorporate much of the tdf, move the game on, with a Lusso style updated interior, and with a new name, but still, in essence an F12.

Yeah I knew about it .. My question was more about the strict Ferrari nomenclature.

Apologies. Virtually certain it will have a new name-ideas?

I, for one, wish they had called the F12tdf the "Daytona"

The Daytona was the first Ferrari that caught my attention, and to us, our F12 itself was the modernized version.

Having said that, I sort of wish they would either stay "technical" with their nomenclature (eg. 360-430-458-488) or at least use fresh names. they sort of lost me at "LaFerrari", but I still love the cars

With it possibly being the last all NA v12 gt car, something befitting the circumstances would be appropriate somewhere along the lines of LaGt:) etc. GTB has been used a few times before.

Not saying that exactly but somewhere along those lines to celebrate the end of an era;). Or something to celebrate the first gt which would be the 166? I have to read up on the very early conception at some point. I saw tonga's crew vintage thread on the books but at the moment my book shelf has a lot of unread books to get through on other topics.

    Interesting....wondering if I change my 488 "speciale " slot for the F12 M.

Honestly, I don't know what the latter is. Just a newer F12? Like 488 did to 458?

It looks like it will be a NA V12, so no turbo. 800 bhp has been mentioned a lot, and using the chassis clues from TDF and GTC4, with a GTC inspired interior. So a big step really, but then on many levels 488 is a big step in performance over 458. Of course it will still based on the main architecture of the F12, as the new platform will arrive in 2020. So a 3 year run for the F12M , with a final year being , if we have followed the norm, a new TDF/Aperta Special . As ever it will be the styling that people see last, and that will be interesting, as the change from FF to GTC4 was notable. Based on dealer feedback, the wider public reception to GTC4 is favourable even if we have read here, a number that prefer the lines of the FF.

Do we have reports on what regions these dealers are located that are taking written confirmation of interests/deposits? Like USA/Canada/UK?

No doubt GTB4 Daytona is a good guess. That name was also mentioned some time ago. However I see one problem with it. Unlike the Lusso name, Daytona was never an official Ferrari name. GTB4 Superfast could work as well - or simply GTB4.

If Ferrari has gone from a 5 year clycle to a 4 year cycle, shouldn't the F12 "M" replacement arrive in 2021 instead of 2022? 2020 would mean a 3 year cycle and there must still be room for a Cali T, 488 and Lusso replacement before - not to mention all the VS models. If we look at it from the Cali T and forward, shouldn't it be more like this?

    2014 Cali T
    2015 488 GTB
    2016 Lusso
    2017 F12 "M"
    2018 Cali T replacement
    2019 488 replacement
    2020 Lusso replacement
    2021 F12 "M" replacement.

All these are based on Geneva debuts, and if they thow a Dino in the mix and stay with the 5 year plan, it could look like this.

    2014 Cali T
    2015 488 GTB
    2016 Lusso
    2017 F12 "M"
    2018 Dino
    2019 Cali T replacement
    2020 488 replacement
    2021 Lusso replacement
    2022 F12 "M" replacement.

Not sure I follow. Didn't they do this often (seems SOP these days)?

Many examples, here is only 1:

    360-->CS-->430

I'm sure I'm not following you because I know you know this too...so what do you mean?

Btw - you consider the Lusso a "whole new model" and not the mid-term update of the FF?

oh, wait - I think I get what you are saying, just the name (not the *model*)? If that is the case, haven't they either continued with only a number change "a few times" and changed name totally a few times? I don't see much of a consistent SOP on naming. They have mixed and matched keeping it or not for a while it seems...

Your question is interesting. Yes my statement was more directly related to the name.

I think you are right... an updated version is any case a different car so you can't have an upgraded version and an hardcore version of the same car
