Word. But like someone else already said, takes two to tango...and Rosberg went full Montoya on that move to provide us w entertainment, you should never go full Montoya...

Sorry but I disagree. Half a lap left, and 1 more braking zone...Had hamilton not turned in (before I get attacked, Hamilton had the right to turn in ), he could've easily defended and we'd now be talking about him being awesome.

Any real racing driver would've done exactly what he did.

Plus, it could've been Hamilton that had to suffer the most damage...

Every single driver on the track would have done almost exactly the same thing. I hate to see an accident but it was nothing that hasn't been done a 100 times before.

I took offense to Hamilton pushing Nico off the track just a few weeks ago, So now it was reversed. Again, Mercedes said they were letting them race so they shouldn't complain now when they didn't say anything when Hamilton drove Nico off.

Agreed - while it ultimately hurt him in this instance, I am happy to see Rosberg challenging Hamilton harder this season. More interesting, more action, more chances for Ferrari ;)

Here's a link announcing the steward's decision F1 News - F1 Austrian Grand Prix: Rosberg penalised for Hamilton clash, keeps fourth , and the text:

While I thought Nico was intentionally protecting his lead (and he basically admitted as much in the post race interview), Toto looks bad in trying to cover for Nico with his story about brake failure. Of course, NOBODY on here really bought his explanation, and neither did the media reporting.

Lost in all this: LH (and I) questioned the team's decision to put him on softs because "they were the best choice to last until the end of the race". Nico complained that his tires were going off, so maybe LH and I should sthu and let the pit wall figure these things out.

A bit of discussion starting with Bas posting a screen grab in post #171: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/144779664-post171.html

Replays showed that a yellow flag was just raised as the two Mercedes approached T3, where Perez had just slid off. It might not have been visible to the drivers as they passed that flag station, Hamilton had completed the pass by the time they got to the next flag LED panel, and Rosberg's car was obviously crippled so it was not a racing pass anyway and overtaking crippled cars is allowed.

I don't believe the stewards bothered investigating.

US announcers NBCSN said it is illegal to pass under yellow UNLESS THE OTHER CAR IS BROKEN AND/OR UNABLE TO DRIVE AT NORMAL SPEED.

Horner provides reality on the 'team' aspect of drivers here - Asked how difficult managing team-mates in such situations is, Horner replied: "It's enormously difficult, because no matter how much those guys say they are team players, they are contractors and they are racing for themselves. "They are going for the biggest prize in motorsport so inevitably, they will do what is right for them at the end of the day.

That's putting it mildly. I had basically given up on the race when the rain never materialized and had it running only in the background, but jumped back in front of the TV with 3 laps to go. That was friggin awesome.

Yah well I don't care what anyone says --- two cars of the same team should not crash into each other, especially on the last lap.

It was too risky a move because clearly both cars could have been taken out. Hamilton is very lucky today he didn't get no points at all. Pure luck.

Best and fairest assessment I've seen of the race on this forum. The Hamilton hatred is not fooling anyone. Nico gets criticized endlessly for not having that championship mindset, well, he tried this time and happened to come out on the losing end. I can't fault him but I'm happy both cars didn't get taken out this time. Calling them both punks is going too far.

    Hmmm.... Hamilton hatred?

The two cars of the same team were on the last lap. Unless it's a clean pass this risk is too high.

I don't think if the order were reversed and the same thing happened people would be blaming Hamilton.

The only problem I had with Nico's actions is that he wasn't aggressive ENOUGH with Hamilton; if you're going to block to the point of contact, make sure you're smacking the other guy hard in a critical area.

There are no teammates at Mercedes. This is a direct result of Hamilton's actions over the years.

BTW: Haas finished in the points so there is that. I think Haas has had a lot of braking problems this year.

Also Max drove a really good race as well.
