ferrari 488 in Cars & Trucks | eBay That's 6, mostly at Ferrari of San Francisco... Kind of crazy how there are so many for sale already. I think this has to do with the stupidity of releasing the 488 and 488 spider so close together...
Some people gotta have it now and are willing to spend the money....probably very early cars and upgraded to the Spider as soon as it was delivered.... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The coupe is an amazing car nonetheless . I still think they will maintain their value for at least another year. Also they are building 2 spiders for every coupe. These cars all look like flip cars with low options. They are all going for around 40k over msrp or greater.
. . Asking $309K is a pretty good price for a car with 2.5K miles. This car is almost exactly how I would order one. Red/ Tan, yellow calipers, shields, CF wheel, and Daytona's I don't know the MSRP but it's got to be pretty close to $290- $295. Anyone on a 2 year waiting list would have to think twice not to pick it up.
these scammers are listing cars with no MSRP's to try and hook buyers in - cant imagine why they wouldnt advertise truthfully.... and isnt Ferrari supposed to be cracking down on people selling thier cars early? Much less through a dealer??
Press cars wind up at the dealers eventually - I bought my first 458 as such - NJ has a press car now that was used on the track as well
If you look through the pics at least one of the cars had a msrp sticker shown . I believe it was 312k and they were asking around 355k. I looked through all the cars listed and from the best of my abilities it looks like most of these cars are going for 30-40k over msrp. One car in particular may have only been 20k over but it was poorly optioned and had around 2500 miles on the clock.
30-40 over is WAY less than what people were paying when the 360, 430 and 458 were 'new'. IIRC in 04/05 a 360 Spider was $350k.... Reality is that Ferrari now has real competitors. Who were they competing against in the past..Lamborghini? thats it. Add to this that so many other makes offer the same overall experience as a new Ferrari. Ferrari can't pay claim to having the ultimate lightweight car anymore as they did with the Scuderia, 360 CS. Who would of guessed 10 years ago that there would be cars like the 675LT and the DODGE Viper ACR Extreme...times have changed. Ferrari better not just expect brand loyalty to win the day. If they do they will become what they have become in F1....best of the rest.
+1 the new car is just not as desirable imho, also as was mentioned before there are plenty of new offerings by the competition which match or outweigh the car
Yes. Aside from brand loyalty and subjective preference, if you are basing it on performance its tough to choose a 488 gtb over a 650s on price. I drove a 650s last week and a 488 coupe when it first came out and felt that the 650s is just as fast. But obviously that goes for other vehicles as well. I still prefer the 488 over the 650s
I've already turned down THREE unsolicited offerings of brand new 488's (including a Spider) from my dealer. In all three cases, the cars were ordered, and the buyers refused delivery upon arrival. You guys can deny it all you want, but the 488 just ain't being well received. Period.
Funny you say that, I was just going to mention that if I had a choice I would most likely go for the 650S over the 488: I am very surprised to hear myself say this..
+1, imho in a few years time the 488 series will be considered a low point for the marque, without mentioning being worth very little: the small, whiny, plastic laden engine is the biggest culprit imho, hopelessly pathetic looking and a source of too much compromise for such as expensive car just my .02
I haven't driven the 488 spider but 650s Spider with its carbon tub will be difficult to beat when it comes to handling.
Interesting that all the San Francisco cars were titled initially in December of 2015. Hard to imagine them getting so many early cars (which would have been some of the first in the US) and all of them going for resale at the same time. Must be a story here. Either they acquired these cars for purposes of resale or planned flipper cars (maybe for spiders)
Guys... let's not get into a shouting match about which cars are best. My god they are both pretty awesome. People can pick and choose what they like best. IMO, the best thing I heard about the 488 is the spider version is a lot stiffer than the 458 spider. That is one area that really needed to be improved and it looks like they took it seriously. For every step forward there's another step backward. Its why people still buy Mondials (ooops -- sorry Mondi owners!)
