Morning, I absolutely love my FF but,as I now have Cayenne GTS to use as a daily driver I am using it a lot less. The positive is that every time I drive it i get that exciting driving a ferrari feeling :0). Now that I have an occasional ferrari and I no longer need the practicality of an FF I am toying with the idea of changing it for an F12. Will i regret my decision? I don't feel the need for any more power, the FF is more than powerful enough for me, but I prefer the aesthetic of the F12 and feel that it is potentially an even more special car than the FF so maximising the ferrari feeling!! I have previously have owned a 458 spider which, again i loved, but I definitely prefer the V12 engine. Cheers,Bob
Bob, I don't think you'll regret your decision for one second. I test drove an FF for two days, and seriously considered buying one. Unlike many, I am a big fan of the FF's styling and loved the way it drives. But, I chose the F12 instead because I also love its styling (who doesn't?!), and I have a cavernous Bentley for schlepping needs. The F12 is, by far, the most exciting road car I've ever driven. Yet so refined and well sorted. Best of luck with your decision. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
F12 hands down is the best car I've owned. Miles ahead of the 599 GTB and Aventador. Dual clutch and 700+HP pure bliss. I drive my F12 more than my Speciale.
i dont think you will regret your decision. if you dont plan on using it as ur daily there's very little reason to own an FF. Assuming you dont care about the winter usage and backseats, obviously.
We've had an FF for the past almost 4 years, and have also had a 458/F12/Speciale alongside. FWIW, for us the FF is the completely over the top, impossible to justify "daily driver", but we love it and use the hell out of it, all seasons. It's a super car in it's own right, but the 4 seats and 4RM make it amazing. Having said that, the F12 is a RWD, FF "coupe" should you want to think about it that way. It was possibly the BEST car I've ever owned, and if 2 seats is enough (the boot is plenty big), then it's a great FF replacement. Good news, you can probably find a great F12 on the used market; on the other hand, even while I'm a huge fan, the FF depreciation can be heartstopping if that's a factor.
The f12 is beautiful, more power, rwd and has the intimacy of a 2 seater compared to a 2+2. Can't go wrong.
I've thought about this decision alot, ALOT !!!! When my car was at ferrari fort laud for service recently, I asked a ton of the people I know there their opinions.. oddly enough? 3 of them said keep the FF and i'd regret getting rid of it, one of which (owner) who was daily driving an F12 and said the FF rides so much better.. I love a hard edge ride so I wouldnt mind the f12 at all Which leads me to the decision factor, pro and con Pro for the FF, gives the f12 experience (not as sharp, raw or wild) but id say easily 85-90% of it You think about the cash to jump up, is it really worth that much more? For me also I thought, hrm now daily driving would become much more boring.. Yes I can drive the f12 daily (and drive mclaren, superleggera "daily") in florida with my rotation.. But theres something very cool about still enjoying a v12 ferrari with ability to take others out for a night, weekend as well.. In a normal daily you definitely lose a big fun factor All depends on the person, priorities which is obvious IMO f12 suits me better, i'm a hooligan with my cars and the rwd/extra power and stiffer suspension tuning is really for me.. But the FF ticks all the boxes in every way, so it's a wash i guess, with ESC off I can play with the rear end and well, you can use all of its power much easier than an F12 I can go back and forth with my thoughts for another hour LOL, but i'll end the redundancy
Thanks All - Food for thought, understandably high praise for the F12.I interestingly, the dealer has told me that one of the F12's I am looking at was bought by a guy who traded an FF for it,found it too much and has gone back to an FF!!
The F12 has HP you really can't use. Most people are not red lining the FF like they could. Plenty of power for the real world, plus the space and the people. You said you love it, so ...
Hi Bob, I'm nearly a year into FF ownership. Fantastic car as you know but I have days where I really want to scratch that F12 itch too, especially now the weather is more settled here in UK. Like you I have another four seater so I don't need the FF but it is such a great all round car. The F12 is a stunning looking car and no doubt amazing to own. I was almost ready to move to a used F12 but here's what has stopped me thus far: 1. looking at how used F12 have held their value I considered going new to my own spec. 2. You can still order a new one but by the time you get it the F12'M' will be imminent (Geneva 2017). 3. Problem then is do you wait for F12'M' deliveries to start? 4. Realistically that's delivery end of 2017 which is a long time from now. 5. Or should I just go for a Lusso instead!!! One things for sure my next Ferrari will be a V12. Whilst I deliberate I carry on driving my FF!
Can't go wrong with an F12. Especially since it's looking like it may be the last of the naturally aspirated, non-electric assisted FR setup Ferrari with a V12. The FF is great but if you have a Cayenne GTS it seems a little redundant to have both for going about your daily life.
This thread highlights the conundrum of the FF - that it is set up for e very day use but hardly anyone in their right mind uses a $300K plus car for the daily grind. So then what's the point of it? IMO use the Cayenne or similar every day, get the F12 for weekends.
The problem with your philosophy is that once you've owned one as your daily driver, nothing else compares to the FF (& Lusso) which is why it is such a clever niche by Ferrari and has been unequalled thus far. It makes even the mundane drive an occasion and when you want 95% of the F12 experience it's available at an instant in ALL conditions. That's the point.
So true. The F12 is the first car that I've owned that is almost too powerful. I have yet to bury the accelerator. Valid point. Other high-end cars seem pretty lame after driving a Ferrari. I might replace our Bentley with an FF. Life is short. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I have both. FF is my daily, F12 is my sunday/special occasion car. If you don't need a daily and want to replace the FF with your Cayenne then having the F12 is a great idea. It's a little faster, handles better, sounds better, a little lighter/more nimble, and stands out more. More of the ferrari feel. You can't go wrong either way.
it's funny how when I buy a new Cayenne/E63/M5/Panamera/Bentley etc as a regular use driver that can cover all bases after a couple of months I am bored and looking for it's replacement - with the FF the sense of occasion has ensured I don't get bored and whilst I have kept a 2014 Benz-AMG E63 wagon for most daily duties, I switch in and out with the FF to ensure that motoring morale stays high. however....if I didn't need those rear seats, I would have bought an F12 not an FF to be honest.
Right on seawise ... there are cars and there are these machines. Cayenne is a big boat, not even in the same hemisphere. Why not drive a Ferrari every day? If you can afford one, drive it often. To own the car and fear the hit when you sell it, is really frustrating, just go for it, or don't.
At the time, had to make room for the 458 Speciale FWIW we also have a Cayenne TTS as the daily family truckster and a hot rodded fiat abarth to run into the city. Cayenne feels great until you drive the FF and cayenne probably has bigger depreciation!! Lessons learned F12 we did realize what we had grown to love until it was gone
Our stable includes a 2013 FF and a 2016 Cayenne Turbo for the wife and weekend duties; closest SUV experience I could get to the FF. The FF has 38,000kmsl; I extended the warranty 2 more years and I use it during the winter was well! I had an R8GT Spyder as the 2nd option but sold it and my M6 for the FF when my in-laws moved in to build their new house. They are almost done and my wife sees my excitement in getting the 2nd garage spot back to add something to mix. I am considering so many options its dizzying - the issue with the FF is that its so good that to get a different fun experience you need to go pretty extreme, the F12 is definitely on the list! Good luck with potential switch.
F12 or 458 Spider That's what I think about. Aperta is out of range. Our '16 911 GTS Cab is in many ways a depressing huge step down given the FF, but fun around town top down, parking is easy, she loves it. Can't track it (FF on track beats the 430s) or do much else ... and for $145,000, depreciating quickly.
I assume you had a chance to drive both cars on slippery surfaces and compare. Please share some thoughts on the 4WD systems between the two.
I've had the FF on a wide open track in the Rain mode, it takes a falling away corner at 60+ to get a little loose in the rear end. The rear brakes really do wonders. You will never have an issue on the street.
