The total invoice was $5,501.20. Changed out the timing belt, two tensioner bearings, lower support bracket, oil and oil filter, fuel filters, water pump, and a few other things.

Based on what I've read about the cost of an engine out service, that seems low, but I'm not going to complain.

Dave, it sounds to me like you got a pretty good deal on this. Last time I had it done professionally it was $4500 plus the water pump, about the same, but it was in 2007. Stooges service it now. ;)

Holy crap, that was quick. Valve adjustment and cam timing? Chain tensioner pads, weld pulley fences?

Something to be said for getting a quick turnaround. I've been in on mine since the end of May... Should probably start a thread.

You've been around 8 months and you don't know who/what the stooges are yet? :)

Good deal. How many miles have you put on it in the 8 months you've had it?

7 months, about 1,500. I'd drive it more often but the wife and kids don't fit in it, and I work from home so no driving to the office.

That sounds like a very good deal considering it included the water pump.

Was that a brand new water pump or rebuild? Did they also change the gear oil?

The water pump was new from Ricambi. The new tensioner bearings are Hill bearings, also Ricambi. He didn't change the gear oil because the PO did that using Red Line oil a little over two years aho.

Definition by the "master mechanics" on this board:

STOOGE: That brand of person destined to destroy any Ferrari, but in particular 348 / 355 MY, by doing their own work. Usually perceived by "professionals" as a 'stooge' pretending to know how to fix the Ferrari at hand but to only leave it in worse repair then when the stooge first arrived. Stooge lacks insight, depth, intelligence and talent...all clearly tick marked off on the Ferrari "Master Mechanics" diploma.

Definition by the guys who, are indeed, a Stooge:

STOOGE: An amazingly good looking, intellectual and talented individual capable of fixing their own Ferrari usually the 348 / 355 MY. Cars are purchased by the 'stooge' in complete disarray, usually caused by some Ferrari "Master Mechanic" that has no idea what an ECU is and was still looking for the carb on the car when it was purchased by the stooge. Said Stooge begins repairs and posts pictures and details on FerrariChat to be ridiculed by Ferrari "Master Mechanics"

    :)
