2006 was the SECOND model YEAR.....

From this forum, the first 488 Euro delivery was late Sep 2015 (9 months ago) and it looks like late November on the first USA cars (7 months ago).

    Swing & a miss for R Corsa......

The only thing with the 488 that is just a liitle bit worse than on a 458 is the sound.
Of course, it is a turbo. But they did it so well, compared with others who had to introduce turbo Technology recently. It is not as screaming as the 458 at high revs. Should it at all?
Instead, the sound is deeper and fuller at lower revs. More masculine now, some say.
Besides this, everything else WE loved the 458 for is still there/has become better.
Handling, response, comfort (!), Emotion, consumption, etc.
Finally, it is that much, so much faster!
Believe me, I know them both!

You can say the 488 looks great as many times as you want if that makes you feel good. It will never look good to a lot of people. Same with the sound. If I were buying a 488 I'd probably say it looks and sounds good :) but I'm not. I'm not interested. Never will be.

This deeper and fuller sound, reminds me of G63AMG, Cayenne Turbo, X5M, etc. That high pitch screaming sound, reminds me of Schumacher's F1.
And it is really so much faster, it tracked Fiorano 0.5 second faster than Speciale.

No not a silly point. The silly part was your response. We get it, you love the car, sure its fantastic.....but your attacks on every thread on anyone who doesn't like it or the direction the company is going on this puts all 488 owners on the defensive and its a bad look.

You are right and wrong. You are correct that there are 488s available (at a premium). You are wrong that there weren't any 430s or 458s for sale at a premium within 6-8 months. I know because I bought a 430 early on second hand from a Ferrari dealer at a premium (40k). Funny but almost the same premium that is being asked for a 488 today.

We are all entitled to our opinion, however, the longer I have my 488 the more dated my 458 is looking. Not to mention the inferior electronics, steering, brakes, power, fit and finish, torsional rigidity, suspension and gearbox just to name a few. Yes, I'll likely sell my 458 eventually as I hardly ever drive it anymore since getting the 488.

Tell you what put the same tires on the 488 as the Speciale and I'll bet you see a much bigger difference in performance. Also the 488 is much much faster than the 458 or Speciale with respect to acceleration. And I'm not talking about 0-60 times guys (that's meaningless), I'm talking about quarter mile times.

I can accept that. Think everyone does.

    Both great cars.

Still with they would separate the 458 and 488 forum so we can get rid of the child please dood.

I am not talking track times, they depend on a lot of conditions.
    Tires for instance.
I am also not comparing Speciale against Speciale!
It is all about Standard 458 vs standard 488.
Just look at the 0-200km/h figures!
Even the 458 Speciale being blown away on this exercise.

Many in denial but in 6 years car mfg can improve many things and have to. 458 is a great car for its time but the bar is always rising.

Basically this reads two ways. You have group 1 that is always chasing the dragon, an Keats needing the latest and greatest. And spare me for the most part. That is fine, but how many of you take your car to the track? Because these marginal gains in performance really only manifest themselves there. 0-60 is still a relevant metric in a street car as most people just drive their cars on the highway. For those they really don't lose much by having the classic Speciale vs the 488. And in group 2 l, you have those that go more for the subjective driving appeal (looks, noise, "drama"). This group appears more than happy to stay in a Speciale and wait to buy the next iteration of the Ferrari V-8. But it is undeniable that the 488 boaters will be dumping their cars in 4 years, while the Speciale owners likely won't. And if you have a Speciale owner you can sell your car and buy a 488, do spare me the cost argument.

    True but :

    1. Speciale is a low production special version of the 458 and shouldn't be compared to 488. In 4 years the 488 will be worth more than a normal 458. That's the point. Not fair to compare 488 to Speciale
    2. Of course the next iteration of Ferraris v8 midengine will be better (it always is) despite some people's opinion.
    3. 0-60 really isn't a useful metric anymore even on the street with super cars today. Traction can easily make up the difference 0.1-0.3 sec here or there. A much more useful metric is quarter mile time or perhaps 0-100mph time (on the street). For example, a stock GTR has a 0-60 time that's better than a 488 but certainly not a better 0-100 time or quarter mile. Even 0-124mph is much more useful and Ferrari themselves use that performance metric to describe performance .
    488 0-124mph = 8.3 sec
    458 0-125mph mid 9 sec easy
    That is a big difference

If you want a long term potential collectible I agree with Speciale argument
If you want the latest and the best performance the 488 is definitely the way to go

I remember my 430 scud I sold when I bought my 458. Scud was raw and cool but didn't miss it in the least and still don't . Technology marches on ...

Please review your prior posts in this thread and you (and everyone else) will see how hypocritical this sounds. I've never "attacked" anyone personally, whereas you are talking down to people and insulting them personally (i.e. calling people ignorant, "swing and and miss") Time to look in the mirror...........By the way, are you a real owner with extensive first hand experience in these cars?

The Speciale is not a low production model and will certainly hold its value better
than the standard 488 over time, imho as far as 0.7 sec. better time to 0-124mph I think it is not worth loosing sound and look over it, without mentioning a minimum of a quarter million usd

As I said my biggest beef with the new car is the cheap looking turbo engine, looks like a coffee machine for god's sake, a disgrace! :(

    very best

Not what you said to Arnie regarding his new 488 with the CF engine bay? Maybe you are just winding people up? I can't tell, honestly....

Is it so hard to understand: the 488 GTB is the successor of 458 Italia/Spider.
Therefore it's almost a little stupid to compare the value preserving between a Speciale an a 488 GTB (where exactly are the current prices of a 458 Italia?).

And yes, the standard plastic engine bay of a 350k Speciale looks really breathtaking, what an epic appearance.

3000 worldwide is low production . It may not be a limited production numbered car (coupe) but it is low production compared to 458 or most cars in general. We are all entitled to our opinion. I'm not putting down the Speciale or 458 I'm just stating my opinion as an owner of both. engine bay looks pretty good and certainly more modern than 458 IMO. Still have plenty of people asking me to open the engine bay lid so they can see it (not that it matters but the point was brought up by you).

Yeah, I was scratching my head on that statement as well... Doesn't quite make sense. In looking under the hood of a Speciale, I tend to see more carbon fiber than plastic.... I think it's generally accepted that carbon fiber is pretty neat looking stuff.
