I have a 1981 308GTSi (36065) that I purchased in 1990 with 18,xxx on the odometer. I drove the car for 4 years and put an addition 18,000 on the clock such that the car currently shows 36,xxx miles. I have a free and clear Illinois title in my name only.

in 1994 the car started to develop some corrosion on the bottom of the doors and behind the front wheels. I was getting estimates from body shops when it sprung a coolant leak in the "V" on top of the engine. It was parked intending to make the proper repairs. Now 20+ years later it still sits. It had been running well before being parked.

I have sold the home where it was stored and have no place for it now. I have neither the time nor inclination to perform a restoration so I am offering her up for sale.

The car is stock with the following exceptions. It has been de-smogged so there is no catalytic converter or air pump. It has an Ansa sport exhaust and sounds amazing. Taking the advice of the guys in the 308/328 section I have made no attempt to get her running. I have rolled the car in gear and the engine turns over freely. Cosmetically the car needs lots of attention. Not only is there corrosion on the bottom of the doors and behind the front fenders, but also numerous nicks and small dings that happened while parked in my garage. There is also a surface rust spot on the right rear fender. The undamaged areas have a considerable amount of small swirls and scratches such that a total repaint would be in order. The glass is in excellent condition.
I have the original owners manual and window sticker. I also have the jack kit which is complete, and the tool kit which is mostly complete, but is missing a wrench and a couple of screw drivers. These items may be negotiated into the sale. The car is currently stored in my enclosed trailer. Delivery a reasonable distance can be negotiated into the sale as well. I am in far western Kentucky on Kentucky lake. I am not conveniently located as it's about a 2 1/2 hour drive to Nashville airport.

I am offering the car for $18,750 or best reasonable offer.

Don...if the deal falls through drop me a PM. Would be nice to keep it in state. I think I know someone who would be a buyer. I am originally from Eddyville. Figuring you are SW of Paducah.

Good for you- that would have been really bad Karma to kill the initial agreement based on someone essentially asking you to go back on your word and sell the car for a few more bucks...a different story of course if the original buyer backed down from the agreement.

Hopefully whomever acquires it posts it here if he/she is restoring it so we can all see it come back alive :)

I thought having dragged home a nonrunning 914 and having paid more than it's worth to get it running and driving again had cured me from the desire to drag home nonrunning cars, but this thread got my heart rate up. I'm glad it sold quickly! :)

This seems fair for buyer and seller...this is not going to be cheap to make right, and even then won't be a top dollar car- not sure the seller could expect more or the buyer could expect to pay less for the project

Not worth restoring, 81 GTSi bottom of barrel. This is a parts car IMHO.

Perhaps you are right but it would still be sad to see... Every old Ferrari that is rescued is a good story.
