Even monsoon/tsunami conditions shouldnt. Delay the start of its that bad.

What's the point in having full wets if they never race on them?

Came so very close to turning the race off when I saw the safety car start.... AGAIN. If it wasn't prerecorded where I could ff through it I probably would have.

Nico penalty reeks of race fixing like they used to do against Hamilton back in the day with max.

    1) Allow Lewis to qualify on pole although he went outside the track on his pole lap(televised).
    2) Advise Rosberg he was facing a 'penalty' during qualifying.
    3) Start the race under S/C and run enough laps to protect the pole sitter from all tire concerns.
    4) Penalty for radio transmission - enough to drop additional points.

Rosberg wasn't going to get away unscathed from this one.

I think a hefty financial penalty to the team would have been more fair. Why penalize the driver and his efforts?

They should have taken points off of the TEAM, not off of ROS. Idiots.

Whoever made the decision to leave the safety car out for more than the first lap should have 10 'HOURS' of torture decided by a poll on the F1 site voted by fans :D

    A. 10 hours with headphones on listening to Lewis singing
    B. 10 hours watching Footage of all Jolyon Palmers spins/offs
    C. 10 hours watching post race interviews with Kimi

+1 on the whole safety car in the sun. It was sunny lol. Forgive me but I drive in worse conditions on occasion. Surely full wets and no rain mean a driver of the caliber in the sport can handle the situation. :)

Totally agree. What is the point of shipping full wets all over the world if the drivers aren't ever going to be allowed to drive in them? The whole SC situation was a farce, and not for the first time, they left it out far too long.

Had Mercedes not given Rosberg that message then chances are Mad Max would have finished 2nd and Rosberg 3rd - Both the team and the driver benefited from the information given in the banned radio transmission, so why only punish the team?

Yes, we do know, there's zero chance the team was deliberately trying to sabotage Rosberg.

If the team HAD actually wanted to hurt Rosberg's race, they would have simply said "Sorry, Nico, we're not allowed to say anything". Rosberg would have either been stuck in 7th gear, losing a position or two, or he would have had to retire the car.

As stupid conspiracy theories go, this one ranks right up there.

Because they're allowed to tell the driver which setting to go to if the car is breaking down.

What the penalty is for is saying avoid 7th gear.

Yet they where allowed to tell Hamilton to be careful in turn 9 Austria.

    Your turn.

Penalty is justified but the stupid radio ban should be lifted

So, did Merc send the message to Nico on purpose to help Lewis?

    Hmmmm.... :)

Why don't they just rename Formula one into Formula Mercedes?

So you were happy with all the drive by numbers races that we had, with drivers being advised how to drive the car through every corner, how to match their team-mate's pace in races to negate any challenge, when they could simply coast along without a care in the World, how to adjust the car every lap to ensure that they couldn't be overtaken, etc., etc., etc.?

Personally, I'm happier with the drivers being totally clueless as to what's going on and so having to go racing every lap!

No - If they wanted to help Lewis then they would have simply kept quiet and let Rosberg fall behind Mad Max without so much controversy ("Not our fault, our hands were tied by the radio ban!").

They got desperate, threw the dice, and ended up throwing craps! ;)
