Exactly right. British media and British controlled stewards, it was always a gimme for dopey Elton. Classy 'football hooligan' type fans there too to boo and catcall .... Makes you proud to be British.....NOT

Just when you think the sport has reached its lowest point, we get this snore fest and realise, it still has way lower to sink, and there's no one trying to right the ship. Whatever happened to the monsoon tyres we had years ago (remember schumi blitzing the field in Malaysia on them), if we are really going to **** ourselves when the track get a bit of water on it, maybe we should be mandating starts on them for safety? What a farce

I have not seen the race and it seems that I did not miss to much....
We always complain about the Minimum influence of the drivers and that it is only the car...Now there is a wet race and race control takes away the possibility for the drivers to shine with a safety car Start. Senna and Schumacher are considered to be the greatest because of their performance in the wet and the generation of Hamilton, Vettel and Verstappen is robbed by that for safety reasons.
Let the Start as usual and if Lewis or any one else is 5 seconds faster per lap than anyone else then one could easily consider him as a "great" and if there is none of them much faster one has to pretend that none of them really shines out like the ones mentioned above.

    Elton will win this WDC.

Nico maybe in trouble and might loose some of his points, but he also will loose 5 places in qualifying because his gearbox will need to be changed. The ridiculous thing is not only was this race compromised by his gearbox, so will his next be.

The current reliability rules are as stupid as is no testing!

Fear not. Hamilton is facing into worse issues as he's already on his last engine with half the season left to go. The second half is going to be a complete lottery with reliability penalties and ridiculous radio random penalties determining the championship.

I believe that Red Bull next year will win it.

The same was said during Red Bull domination, and I'm sure the same was said during Mclaren domination too.
    +1!

Red Bull is looking fantastic at the moment.

Their engine is getting very close to Ferrari, they still produce great chassis and aero. They have so many tokens left for this season still. IMO one of the best driver combinations on the grid.

I'm fearful for Ferrari at the moment. I want to win the title next year, and surely they'll be stronger and somewhat in contention. I think next year will be a 3 way fight but with Red Bull just being the better most often.

I want Mercedes to be dethroned, but I don't want to see another team so dominant as Mercedes again. I want the team/drivers to earn their title by fighting for it.n

The odds will be I think of a team simply getting it 'more' right than others and probably a team 'dominating' as Mercedes did. Im thinking it could be Red Bull but maybe, hopefully, its closer than the current situation.

    Why that?

If Mercedes does a better job, has a better car and operates a better team, they deserve to win.

It's up to the others to catch up.

Red Bull may challenge them, but RB will always be at the mercy of their engine supplier. I wouldn't put money on Renault being in F1 for the long term.

Only Mercedes and Ferrari do most of their car in house.

Red Bull's fortune is tied up with Renault.

If Renault develops a better chassis, and recruits top drivers, it will put all his effort on its own team, I figure, and RB will come second.

I'm tired of seeing Mercedes dominate. They did a better job and other teams couldn't catch up because of the regulations. Farcical. Now they do have the token system but that's not done properly either and done way too late.

RBR may be reliant on Renault, but they just entered F1 again as a works team, so I doubt they're closing doors next week. I wouldn't be at all surprised when the next engines come (2020ish?) that RBR will go build their own engine (possibly aston martin badged, considering they're in a supercar partnership).

Chances of Renault out-engineering RBR chassis/aero is slim to none I reckon.

Apart from the fact there is only one Newey and 2017 onwards is an aero dominated formula...

Yep, I moan and groan but I definitely respect what Mercedes have achieved. As a fan, I find it embarrassing that Ferrari AND McLaren-Honda can't seem to get their sh** together.

For McLaren, if they don't put it all together next year, I expect a dissolution of their partnership by 2018, if not sooner.

For Ferrari, if they don't put it all together next year and fall behind the soda company once more, heads will roll and we're going to see another re-shuffle which will not get us back anywhere near the top until 2020.

I predict next year RB will be much closer to Mercedes than any other team. Just look at this race, both RBs were pretty darn close, max obviously closer and the mercs did not disappear off into the sunset from him AND there was zero strategy play between rb & merc here; both were on the same strategy so it was pure pace...Ferrari has never accomplished this proximity on pure pace, they got lucky w strategy to even get them close enough to the Mercs.

I don't understand why McLaren is not in that list; they build cars too. Why not contract their engine partner Ricardo for F1 too? He probably has more recent turbo engine experience with Mclaren alone (2012), than Honda (2015). When they get their s*it together (which could happen at any time too), it'd be yet another potential top team to challenge Ferrari. But as it was mentioned, it'd be great to see not one or two, but several teams at basically the same level of performance, to really duke it out every race. Even if F1 keeps the crappy V6 engines, at least make races interesting.
