finally got round to watching the race. wow! we have seen the first win of a future wc.
Hey Lewis haters; Where is the relentless pounding on Max for "not paying his dues" as was the excuse back when ? Or was it preferential treatment ? Sorry; I get my excuses mixed up.
I totally forgot I started this thread a couple of years ago. Max has been impressive and can be world champion next year.
??? If you think that's why lew is disliked you probably misread a lot of stuff! FWIW, Verstappen got a lot of stick for ''jumping the queue''; a **** load more than Hamilton ever received (GP2 champion etc)
Oh dear. I like DR but I think the penny has just dropped. Hope he just focuses on his driving, rather than sarcasm at a kid who just happens to be quicker. Red Bull is different since Verstappen joined - Daniel Ricciardo
Yep, Ricciardo is now de facto Number 2 in that team I guess that Marko, Horner and Mateschitz will prefer Verstappen from now on.
This is simply a shot of the same medicine that Ricciardo himself gave to Vettel in 2014. If it is a too strong medecine, Ricci can do the same as Sebastian and sign with Ferrari... Rgds
I don't know if Red Bull had deliberately favoured Ricciardo against his team mate in 2014. It's just that Vettel didn't adapt to the hybrid car immediatly and was less successful than the Australian. But Verstappen looks to have become the "wonder kid" for RB after his win on a Toro Rosso, just like Vettel had become after his Monza victory. Ricciardo takes the role Webber had for years at RB: the unspoken Number 2.
Spot on. Australia is good at churning out number 2 drivers..! I think Ricci either needs to get on top of his game this season, or jump to Merc next year. Ferrari is a closed shop. He may have to be patient and wait to 2018 if Merc is closed up due to resigning Rosberg The last thing he needs to do now is let the mind games get the better of him.
Well, I wouldn't dare to call Alan Jones as a "number 2" driver... I think that it is perhaps a trifle early to say that Daniel Ricciardo is a "de facto" number two, but the dynamics have changed: William is right, the team is now enraptured by "the kid", and poor Ricci must feel that they are more behind Max than behind him. There is only one thing left for him to do, that is to be regularly faster than the new wonderkid. If he cannot manage this, then a change of team is the only option that would be left for him. Rgds
Points scored since start of European rounds: 1: Hamilton 110 p 2: verstappen 77 p 3: Rosberg: 68 p 4: Vettel 65 p 5: Ricciardo: 64 p 6: Raikonen 63 p
As an aside: this also shows that the dynamic of Nico's season has almost stopped at this start of the european rounds: he has not scored much more points than Vettel, Ricciardo or Raikkonen...
Well I've said it before and started a thread about the "other side" of Ric that people just seem to look past for some reason. I pretty much got assailed for my criticisms of him. But I do find this all amusing now. I especially like that when its him not doing the job... it's "we." "We didn't have a good drive today." "We couldn't get the most out of the car" "We had bad luck" etc. But when the team does something it's "yeah my team screwed me again." So now, the only thing he had left was that he could beat Max in qualy. Now that's gone too. Let's see how Ric bounces back. He's always quick to mention how he beat Seb in 2014 while at the same time failing to mention the totally lopsided technical issues and DNF's that occurred. But's that okay... the record is the record. I just hope he's been tapped down a bit and just focuses on driving. He could be one of the top drivers too. I just think his ego got amped and he started believing the hype after three Merc losses in 2014 that he was able and smart enough to take advantage of.
Many, if not most, Grand Prix drivers are "prima donne"; they need to feel that the team is supporting them 100%. They do feel badly when there is a new kid in town...I think Daniel Ricciardo can bounce back, but he needs to do it quickly. Rgds
The whole ''WE'' speak, programmed in by the PR department is getting on my tits too. It's not Ricciardo, but it's ALL drivers that are doing this. It's rarely genuine from a driver when they start with the WE speak. It's the first thing they do.
The more i watch Max,the more impressive he is .He has got the big mojo working for him now,if he can keep it going and IF RBR can give him the car next year then, yes,he could well be WDC in 2017.
I'm not sure why RIC is surprised, Max was already passing him in a Torro Rosso https://vimeo.com/140924267
The smiles are seeming to fade now. DR sounds a little "chippy" to say the least...sounding like a "hater" at worst.
Ricciardo looked a little stupid saying maybe Max 'peaked' already at freaking 18, and might start getting slower. Wishful thinking . Himself at 27 probably peaked. Mad Max already started cleaning Ricci's clock, and should be obvious by the end of the season IMO. He's shaping to be another Webber and Rosberg: good drivers, but never good enough to win a title because of a better teammate. And same crap with Merc... if he was offered a seat. Tough luck. Or bad timing? He he.
Yes, to me this is a great story of the year. Who'd have thought that Max was going to swap teams in the middle (pardon) in the beginning of the year and then take the fight against Riccardo, without too much trouble...! Amazing story. If he starts to out qualify him consistently from now on, Riccardo is going to be bitter.
