Thanks, I'll investigate what VLG is. Seen it mentioned previously in threads but remains a mystery to me!

No but is that pricing realistic? I'm curious because that car looks very similar in condition, somewhat worse and somewhat better to mine when I first got it. It's reasonably close in chassis number and it looks identical in features and layout.

It's a nice interior color which I don't think I've seen before what is it?

I believe that is the color my Espada's original interior, which was "testa di moro".

I hope this note finds you well and smelling of fuel !!

    try carinteriors.nl

Hank is proprietor and claims to have found original material for under bonnet. I have something very close so didn't bother to investigate him but spoke at length to him last year at Cavallino about this stuff . its pricey ..

If you choose him let us all know how it is .

maybe we will cross paths at the revival again this year or Concours at Windsor castle ?

Hi Gary, great to hear from you and thanks for the tip, aways useful to know where such stuff is available from.

I've been trying to smarten up the Espada recently as Goodwood requested it for display at this year's Goodwood Festival of Speed, which opens next week (23rd June). My Espada is going to be part of the Cartier Style et Luxe display, so I'm feeling both very honoured but a little concerned at the same time, as my Espada isn't exactly concours..

That's why I've been busy tidying it up the best I can over the past few weeks; Mike Pullen at Carrera Sport has sorted the engine-bay out, I've had some paintwork done and tomorrow, the car will be fully detailed, so it already looks a whole lot better than it did a couple of months ago. I didn't manage to get the under-bonnet (hood) insulation changed in time, though, which is annoying but not exactly the end of the world.

Look forward to catching up with you at either the Revival or Windsor Concours, where I'm a judge again this year.

    All the best, Harry

I don't know what condition your blanket is in but you can clean it up quite a bit and give it more of a patina appearance as opposed to being totally grungy. That's what I did on mine because it wasn't badly deteriorated and I'm not ready to address it yet. Experiment with some chemical cleaners. I used Goof-Off but it did temporarily change the surface and then eventually it regained it's original shape so use it cautiously. It's much better but certainly not like new. Nothing on my it, save the wheels LOL :D

Not as simple as that, I'm afraid.

Under bonnet insulation is ripped in places and has been painted black, so not a matter of just cleaning it up I'm afraid. Because it's painted black, you don't notice it as much, which I guess is why it's black!

Ah well, too bad. Looks like a PITA type job to me. Some of the pricing for the original stuff is crazy. One guy on VLG utilized hot water heater blankets which had had sewn and painted the right color. I couldn't tell that they weren't original but I'm not sure how long it'll last?

Sorry if I posted this before ...

Here is a Lamborghini Espada... pseudo S1 for sale at Monaco auction by "Boule" :

    https://www.classicdriver.com/en/car/lamborghini/espada/1970/396296

    and

    Mise en page 1

This is not correct, this car is a fake S1...

    #7695 is the 205th Espada produced... thus it is a S2 !

It is not even matching the catalog presentation, which mentions 186x cars S1...

which is also not correct either because only 176x S1 have been produced.

The S1 dashboard of #7695 is the "mistake" cheating people...

In the car life, dashboard has been replaced by an earlier one, end of the story !

Definitively this car doesn't worth more than 180.000 € and not at all from 230 up to 280.000 € + fees... for the one insterested into buying a real S1, I know one for 255.000 € in very good condition !

How funny. So now people are faking S1s?

Other than the very early ones with the working wing vents or with original slats on the back, rather a pain in the arse, whatever for? I like the strange dash too and I find the center console more fortable for my arm but otherwise the upgrades, such as they were, on a S2 seem worth it. Even those on a S3 as well though I don't prefer that dash or front grill. A matter of preference ... It's worthwhile to fake an S1? Leno's S1 got a S2 dash update. Perhaps they should swap cars?

That top of engine mounted coolant tank ... LOL :D Yup, that's an S1 alright ...

    Hey everyone,
I just put a deposit down for a driver level SIII.
What should I look out for?
I wish I had the $$ for s SI, but I really don't mind the SIII's at all. I actually like that it has the power steering and AC...
The only issue it has is it has trouble, sometimes, going into reverse...
    Thanks for the help..

If you're looking for a PPI or to have the tranny looked at then you can't go wrong with Bob Huber. He's on here. He rebuilt a terribly totaled SIII and it's a converted from automatic to 5spd car. He knows Espadas well from S1->S2->S3. He's been into the trannies and diffs very deep so he can help you out.

Have to agree about the PS and I don't know about the AC being all that much better but he'll know how to maximize it for you. If your car is ready in time for Monterey you should join the Lambo bunch there and get to know them all. It's a great group of guys. Every year they have some sort of caravan of cars going north to the show. Always good to have good tech help on your journey too! The Espada Rescue Brigade has assisted plenty of stricken Lamborghinis over the years.

Remember during my pre-purchase research reading about people back in the day "upgrading" there S1 cars by getting the new dash layout. This is a huge job I should think.
