good aftenoon to all, I am having issues with my 95 challenge (running 2.7, euro spec so unable to pull codes easily). car runs a bespoke manifold with no cats. I can see any wire from cats back to ecu so assume the cat senors have been done away with . I have an intermittent problem which I would like to trouble shoot myself if possible as right now I have limited dealer access. Symptoms: started as a loss of power for say a few seconds then normal service resumed. Initially no lights came on. Now I have a CEL showing 5-8 when this occurs. then goes out and engine works normally. I also around th same time get a smell of petrol in the car ( I drive windows downs as the challenge doesn't have a/c and it's rather hot in the south of france). The problem seems to occur when I drive slowly with low rpms. What I have done so far: Cursory check at connections engine ecu reset What I am considering to do this evening checking connections in detail. can I assume CEL 5-8 is passenger side ? have a look at spark plugs and spark plug cables Checking air filter and MAF coupling Any other thought ? The problem has appeared first after the major cambelt service I did last year Many thanks for your input.I am time poor and if I can get the car to run properly, It's gonna go in storage u til xmas.... shame best T
one clarification: the sensors on the cats are still there. Single sensor per cat. Any idea of what I should look at ?
Quick update: checked all ECU and O2 sensor connections. driver side ECU may have been slightly loose. Put liberal amounts of WD40 on the connectors. Did another proper ECU relearn. Went for a 45 min drive thereafter. No problem this time around. Full power at all time and no CEL. So this was probably down to old connections playing up. Let say it's all working. Also another cause for celebration: I also received today the OMP vidcarbon shell I got for a decent price on ebay. So once I will have a new cover for it, I will use it for the passenger side of the challenge. This will complete the rebuilt of the challenge. Job done !
