    Hi Marc,

    Yes I was and no I didn't!
Unfortunately it wasn't a pleasure trip, I had an eye operation in Rotterdam.
Just to avoid your wrath, I will be back in Holland early September, same reason, no play, and then probably again towards the end of the year.

In the meantime I'm trying to do at least some work on 435, so yes, the answers to those q's would be welcome!

    Best,

    Jack.

Ouch, hope the operation went well.

In that case you should still try to come to Chantilly September 4, now the ultimate concours in the world in a stunning setting, it blows Pebble Beach and Villa d'Este right out of the water in every way. It is an hour north of Paris and 30 minutes north of Charles de Gaulle airport:

    Chantilly Arts & Elegance Richard Mille ? 4 / 09 / 2016

    All the best,

    Marc

Jack you should not need to take apart the dash to remove the dash top. There are 4 studs and the nuts can be removed with out taking anything apart. As I remember they are 10mm nuts

    Hi Eugene,

Thanks for that info, I'll have a look-see tomorrow!
After chasing the original material for 4 years, now I have it it is about time it gets done too!

    Best,

    Hello AMLC,

Certainly the photo is of that car yes, but is the seller using a photo of the car he has for sale or a generic photo he grabbed off the internet while in fact selling another K?

Busy and early day tomorrow for me so if you have time to ask him for the chassis number great otherwise I will do it tomorrow night or Tuesday,

    Bed time here.

    Best regards,

    Marc

Can I add to Eugenes post the two outer nuts are in a tight spot inside the legs of the dash and two in the center. You will need to remove the center of the dash to access those

    AMLC,

I just emailed the vendor in Spain, I would say it is 1066 but I also asked if he or the dealer in the US Kurt Tanner had done any more work since the Ebay listing in January.
Will let you know if and when he answers.

    Best regards,

    Marc

    Thanks Graeme,

I was rather hoping to get to the center nuts by removing the cubby and via the space next to the steering column.
If it has to be it has to be.

    Hello Henry,

Well that could be but the ad text matches the story of 1066 which we discussed here back when the Ebay listing showed up in January. No answer so far but it is Spain in a heatwave so let's see:)

    Graeme,

I had a look yesterday, the worst seems to be the bolt above the light switch, the tubes sitting in the way. I have thin hands and small ratchet etc, it will come out without taking the whole circus apart. The dash is otherwise pristine, so I'd rather leave it alone where I can.
    Damn mouse.
Are you having fun with that 456?

    Best,

    Jack

    Hi Jack
A long 1/4 drive extension and a wobble socket make that nut easier to get off and on,

The 456M is a magic thing and a lot quicker than I was expecting, and continues to suprise.
In some ways it's like a Khamsin after 20 Years development. and being a RHD manual nearly as rare.
If you can imagine a K with another 150hp, another gear, the steering is just as quick and variable, self levelling rear suspension, yes it's hydraulic, taken off the power steering pump. It even has a pair of accumulators (BMW). Plus all the modern touches except cruise control.

I have been thinking about selling my Khamsin. What is fair market value for a one owner all original Khamsin? Original Fly Yellow paint and black leather interior, 19k miles.5sp, U.S model. Original tools and book.

    Hello,

Sorry but your post confuses me, a month ago you mentioned that your car was AM120US1282 which was red black, stored in a warehouse at the late Doug Magnon's Riverside museum. Now you mention a fly yellow Khamsin, only seven were made, I know of just two left for sure in that color including a ar in the UK now 1272 and of course Doug magnon's 1046 which as we all know is in the RM auction at Monterey next month, the well known car Jay Leno test drove for his web channel, fly yellow, black with...19000 miles...but not one owner. Please unconfuse me:)

There is I believe another of the fly yellow cars surviving in its original color somewhere in the midwest which I believe to be 1118 which was owned by someone (C.B.) in 1984 in Dallas according the the MIE roster. Here below are the only photos of it I found: do you in fact own this car as well? Again thanks in advance for unconfusing me:)
FYI before anyone mentions them the yellow K's in Japan were not born yellow; only seven cars, all US models, received that livery new.

By the way if anyone can identify what state the number plate on the car below is from I would appreciate it, likewise is anyone familiar with that car?

    Sorry for the confusion.
I use to store the red Khamsin AM120US1282 in Doug's warehouse.

I own a Fly yellow Khamsin with 19k miles that I purchased from the original owner.

Excellent, can you please let us know the chassis number? Fly yellow K's are my favorites so very special to hear of another!

Is it your car in the photos I just posted?

Some photos would be appreciated of course:)

In October 2007 I accepted an invitation to an event in Italy just as an excuse so I could sneak 300kms away and go see 1272 alllllll the way by the Slovenian border:) I had to wash the car before I photographed it but did not mind one bit, like putting tanning lotion on a leggy model:)

Some shots of that day below.

    Sadly; not excellent!

    Forget detailed due diligence.
Let's stick to the first sentence:

One or two (or more) owner car???
    What gives?

Thanks Ivan, that's what I have always dreamt about, particularly interesting Khamsins coming out of the woodwork after years or even decades tucked away in remote US states:)

As to the value of the yellow K the sale of Doug Magnon's identical -but more prestigious- car next month at the RM Monterey auction will give the only true answer.

Of course while prices have gone up tenfold in a dozen years interest in Khamsins is firmly located east of the Atlantic ocean witness my ex car 1242 which I sold April 2015 from friends in Los Angeles to Holland...and the classic car market has slowed, not crashed but slowed since September as obviated by all auctions in the last 10 months.

Looking forward to "5000GT"'s chassis number and photos:)

    Best regards,

    Marc

Doug's car is estimated at $100,000 to $140,000. Hopefully they will put the steering wheel on correctly before the auction.

    Hello Marc

I saw Oklahoma on the plate as well, but you may want to know the origin of those photos on the net:

    1977 Maserati Khamsin

    there it says:
    Owned by: cinnamontulsa (Tulsa, Oklahoma?)

It was a gift from myself to my husband on his 40th birthday in 1986. We are the first private owners, previously it had been owned by a dealer and his son drove it albeit seldom. The dealer was Jimmy Leake Sr of Oklahoma. It is all original with the sole exception of new carburetors.

But maybe "5000GT" will fill you in with more Infos.

    Regards, Roger

PS what colour will #1230 be painted in after restoration ?
