I didn't know Seven Hills was in Adelaide.
I know there's one in the Land of Queens, and one in some convinct settlement, but not here.

Anyway, we've had semi-automatic washing machines here for at least two years now so shut up.

7 attempts at what? The free upgrade is over - are you trying to apply the anniversary update or something?

Yeah i heard about this issue. You need to download the ISO then install it that way from a burnt DVD (oldskool lol) or USB drive.

Have you checked any error message/code against the list here?
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/10587/windows-10-get-help-with-upgrade-installation-errors

They also do phone and browser-text-based support for Windows install issues (never used it so I'm not vouching for the quality, but hopefully it's alright):

I have been reaching all the codes 5 different ones.
I even asked for a tech support call , they never rang even saying it was a 3 minute wait.
It appears the solution is via a USB so at least I don't have to wait the 3.5 hours for it to down load. Each time.
I am even using a dedicated hard drive just for the operating system and pulled the plugs on the other, removed anti virus you name it, days waisted

Call them or use the text chat - that page is a US one so they may not call you back, I don't know.

You'll still have to download it to install via USB (Speedy's link is a tool to do it), and I think the download will be a little bigger too, but it's not a background transfer so it might be a little quicker, plus you'll still have the USB stick you make so no matter how many times it fails you only need the one download.

The other thing that is infuriating is if you down load it to your PC and it crashes the entire down load is gone.
It is even more annoying is 10 downloaded on My 80yold mothers Lap top no prob and she didn't want it, being a home trader it caused all sorts of grief.

It should be in a hidden folder on the C: drive. Nothing should be deleted.

In windows you can un-hide the hidden folders and find your downloaded files.

Good tip Thank you! saving to a USB will save some time.
The annoying thing is if it is down loaded to a hidden file it B well should recognise it's already there like every other B program....

If you use Speedy's ISO download/USB creator tool you can install it with a Windows 7 or 8.x key (for now - no guarantee that will still work for very long), so if it really comes down to it, you can backup your existing OS, wipe the drive and install from scratch.

Speedy tools may help but I'm an ADSL2 untill the 18th and the NBN gets connected.

That's a very tempting idea. I'll try booting it from the USB and see what happens.

Let us know what speeds you get before and after, I'm very interested at the moment.

NBNCO have just gone through Bundaberg where I've been doing some network installs of late for commercial shopping centres and the experience for them is not good.

The tails going into the shopping centres is VDSL but I haven't had the opportunity to test the speeds yet (just trying to get NBNCO to put it on the right MDF is frustrating enough:( )

The way I understand it is NBN for our area is only to the Telstra phone connector and copper to the house.

In my old house I had fibreoptic to the house.

What I have here is similar to what I believe is connected to a block of units.
