I know the car very well. My dad took care of it for over 10 years. It was involved in a accident years ago. While the car was repaired very well, obviously due to the history, the car is discounted.

Its an amazing car that has been part of a Palm Beach collection for years. A perfect, no stories, USA example would sell between $1.8-2.2 in todays market.

The free Carfax off their listing shows it as a salvage title...

EDIT - perhaps the title was changed after repairs complete (not sure this can be done - just wondering...)

I know, just frustrated that a dealer would have the balls to do advertising like this. They have to know an F50 is going to be a well known car and they won't be able to get away with it. Ultimately, if I got serious, I would have checked the carfax and found out, but I would have wasted a bunch of time on it if something like car Ferrarichat didn't exist to set me straight quickly. They have to know that people are going to rely on what they put in their ad and possibly even purchase the car based on the fraud put in the ad.

Yes. Not Boca, but Manalapan. Ralph purchased the car from my father through a broker in California. The original accident happened on the track. Laguna Seca I think? I think Ralph may have been the first person to have a full Tubi Style exhaust installed. Including headers, test pipes, etc. Ironically his next door neighbor, also a client of my father, built an identical F50.

I'm certainly not in your level of the game but I see cars listed poorly all the time and it really gets under my skin. "needs nothing, blah blah blah" and you can see all kinds of issues.

As a Sticky Refinishing company, I see all the time 'All Stickies Refinished" and I see non refinished parts in the pictures. I've helped many guys vet cars and the sales folks don't know anything about the car - can't even answer the most basic questions.

Of course that's why some of the good guys do so well as they are respected for being open and honest.

That is indeed one of the benefits of FChat.

I empathise with your frustration. On our side of the Atlantic, we don't have the benefit of carfax. Before I bought mine, I was shown an F50 by a dealer which had had its nose replaced along with the radiator and fans after a head-on, but presented as totally clean. It was only by tracking down sales of external body parts with some help from the factory that I was able to piece the story together. Much time wasted, but a good education.

Good luck in your search if you are looking to fill the gap between the F40 and the Enzo. It's a great car.

 

In this market, id say if you can get it for $1.1m, it would be a good buy. It has been for sale for a while, so buy it to keep it.

 

It was for sale through an official dealer last month or maybe back in May. And i dont remember them saying one word about the salvage title.

Years ago, I was involved in purchasing a yellow 365 GTS/4 Daytona Spider and 333 SP from the Muellers (who traded them both in to a coin dealer).

 

My father helped organize the deal for Ralph to buy the 333SP and Jean Alesi F1 car. His commission was two massive Keith Collins tapestries... (no joke.)

And, in my experience, they're generally pretty respectable. I was surprised they made no mention of it.

They had it listed for $1.6m.

 

They are potentially exposing themselves to a giant lawsuit.

 

For what it's worth, if you spoke to them about the car (as I did) they said it was a branded title. So not as bad as it seems, in my experience.

 

Excuse my complete ignorance, but what is a branded title?
