Congrats! I was just reading this and thought the car looked familiar, and was just getting ready to PM and make sure, since I didn't want to steal any thunder if it was yours.

Congrats again on the great feature. :)

I have been suggesting an article on the F355 to them for a while now. It's a car made for this website.

Thanks for the comments and taking time to read the story.

Video is planned for "part 2" at the track this fall. Should be an amazing experience. These guys are top notch.

When I visited their shop in Culver City, they had 6 or 7 vintage Alfa's in there. Lot of beautiful cars. I like their slogan - "Drive Tastefully"...

Congrats Rob. I read a bit this morning. Interest background of yourself. I think we all know you a bit better now. We need a video documentary of this thing on Petrolicious. They always keep things classy and vintage feeling. Love their program.

    Well done Robb,

I like many here have followed your restoration thread of your challenge car. From the time you had found it, teasing the crew with your selection and your eloquent way of telling your story around this adventure of yours. Your passion is contagious and we all here appreciate it.

I'm pretty excited to be engaged in good discussion here with our group at Ferrarichat. I really love these cars and getting to know the owners. Petrolicious has had a good response already to the story and are looking forward to part 2. Hopefully I can include the other two F355's in the feature for comparison.

I'm just crazy excited to get my new garage built with my lift to further expand capabilities like so many of you all.

Great to see what we can do ourselves. Amazing to see the care and attention to detail from those like Elliott and Dave L., etc... :)

    Robb,
I just built my toy barn over the winter and one thing that I can't say enough about is my decision to submerge my scissor lift. It is flush with the floor so that when stowed it is not in the way. I only have this pic on the iPad but look in front of the 550. All the lines are submerged too. Geothermal if you can.

    Congratulations Robb!!

The black and silver 355 Challenge you purchased from LFSC used to belong to my family! My father and I raced it in numerous Ferrari track days at tracks around the midwest. I believe we raced it for 2yrs before giving it to the dealer. We have owned and tracked a 348 Challenge car, 2 355 Challenge cars (This one included), 360 Challenge, and many others. This car you now own was by far my favorite of all of them. Without thread jacking too much, I just wanted you to know we serviced this car religiously through Continental Autosports (Hinsdale, IL Ferrari Dealership) and I believe Fallline Motorsports did some suspension tuning and service as well. You mentioned it being stored "wet" which it very well may have been but it was always in our secured and heated car storage facility. I have no knowledge on whom the owner was previous to my family, but we never had an issue with the car FWIW.

Anyways if I can dig up some old photos of the car I will be sure to send them your way.

The sound of that car when I had it at 8000rpms down the straight at Road America still makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up!

    Peter,

Great to hear from you and I much appreciated your post. I would love to add your history with the car to its records. Thank you for the heads up. I'll send you a PM. You can contact me at [email protected]

Next time I am up your way, which should be soon - I think a lunch is called for. :D

I knew from the service records LFSC provided that the car was well taken care of mechanically and in some ways aesthetically but we knew going in that it was a race car for 20 years and used properly so my comment about being put away wet (my slang - like horse riding) wasn't meaning to be an insult, but more of a standard that it was used often and not overly pampered. It currently has around 10k track miles. I have seen the "barn" of challenge cars at Classic Coach in NJ, and they were mostly in the same condition - well maintained, well driven, but not rubbed with a diaper... :D

Hopefully we are now doing all three.

Would love any photos and paper trail.

Ferrarichat is a fantastic place to re-connect.

    Robb

Absolutely agree on all counts Robb. No offense taken at all!

We definitely need to meet up and trade stories/info on this awesome Challenge car.

I will search my photos this weekend and try and send you a few.

More to come. PM me anytime.
