If you are looking for this auction to set the market be careful of any posted results. Watch the bidding and see how many actual bidders are involved.

Agreed on the 550s as they are not very well optioned. No mod wheels or fhp and only one with Daytona seats. The 575s both have sticks so they may get up there.

Rare 6 speeds on those Maranellos and some high estimates IMHO. Interesting to know what happens---a lot of cars at one auction so I think people are trying to take advantage of any over realistic price expectation.

My take on the two 6-speed 575Ms...A late car in Rosso with Modulars vs. and early car in Argento with FHP.

    Lot S118 ZFFBV55A440135174 Rosso/Tan '04 18,250 miles Est. $380,000 - $425,000

    https://www.mecum.com/lots/CA0816-260019/2004-ferrari-575-maranello/

Resale red & tan. Has Modulars and the late model bright grille. Scuderia Shields. I think I can see that the upper dash has been recovered (and the upper section is not *quite* the same shade of tan) and the lot listing incorrectly mentions the presence of Daytona seats. Red calipers (but no mention of FHP) and do I spot an aftermarket exhaust (it isn't stated)?

    Lot S122 ZFFBV55A720129981 Argento/Blu Scuro '02, 18,329 miles, Est. $350,000 - $370,000

Tastefully done in Argento with a 100% Blu Scuro interior (featuring Daytonas and the rear shelf, all with light stitching). FHP is mentioned and Argento calipers are present - this was a 'consciously' stealthy specification, embelished with the addition of Scuderia Shields. Standard wheels. Tubi exhaust.

Interesting that both cars show almost identical mileages and are being put to the block in quick succession (lots 118 & 122) but have been separated by estimates that are $30-$65k adrift. Could it be because the Argento car with the lower estimate "Must be sold to an out of state resident of licensed dealer" and that there are tax implications??

I'm confused by what I see as two Rosso/Beige 550 listings...

    Lot S26 ZFFZR49A2W0110686 9,173 Miles **NO RESERVE** but an estimate of $180,000 - $200,000

    https://www.mecum.com/lots/CA0816-25...550-maranello/

I quite like the oversized stick-on shields and I'm intrigued by the dual-zone climate(!)

    Lot S166 ZFFZR49A2V0109701 37,326 miles, Rosso calipers. Estimate of $150,000 - $180,000

    https://www.mecum.com/lots/CA0816-25...550-maranello/

The trouble is that both listings appear to share the same two interior shots (showing the dealer must remove plastic carpet covers and the curious black panel in front of the passengers feet!

While similar, they are definitely different (look at the outdoor surroundings). Curious that they have the floormats folded back or removed in both of those shots.

Did you read FORZA today. Sheehan said he sold one for $105,000 but did not say if it had 2K miles or 55K miles, or if sticky, ECU update, motormounts, Did it need a major, has was the steering rack but summed it up to the fact a the very end he had this.

    2015 $150,000
    2016 $100,000

So I guess everyone will now look at the magazine and see what is printed. It will make it hard to sell , not that anyone wants to sell there at over $100,000 now ........

But it sure brought everyone's car down. I wish people were more careful , instead of making the market after selling one car, without telling what else the car needed. It could have very, very easily need over $30,000 in "do this" list while we are in there. Like the Clutch, Brakes, Hoses, Fans,, the list goes on.

wait and see where the market goes.

The 550 Sheehan mentioned was my car. 48,000 miles; everything up-to-date by Bradan; majors always done on time; new a/c seals; rebuilt front shocks; rebuilt injectors; all upgrades (hoses, motor mounts); a minor stone chip here and there; quilted rear shelf and headliner; Daytonas; new clutch in 2014; all manuals and keys; and I was the second owner. No stickies. It needed absolutely nothing. I moved up to a 599. Frank

The market seems to be cooling off quick. Probably a bad sign considering it's peak summer and usually this is around when more people are buying sports cars.

Sooooo I guess the market it at $100,000.

I sure would hate to be the owners that sent the cars out to the auction next month.

Do you like the 599. I can't decide between one of those and maybe a higher miles 458.

High mile car at 48K. Completely different market than those looking for low mileage examples.
Keep in mind that the Gullwing car just flew out the door around $89,500 this week with 54K and needing expensive major service and refurb.
The auctions will be interesting. I predict that some will make reasonable buys on no reserve cars at a bit below the minimum estimates...but no giveaways. There still appears to be enough demand for 550s to support mid $100s+ for good cars...

Sheehan's numbers in Forza never have made much sense on any Ferrari. Not much reason to think this is any different.
