Hope they treated you as well as they did my father and me in 2006. We did the whole bit, factory tour, museum, session at their own local track (fiorano) with Schumi banging it round there doing F1 tyre testing. We also then had a short talk and raffle by Schumi, plus given a bag of branded goodies. The tour included Enzo's office (nice 348 model on his shelf), the (new then) logistics centre and the race area where they build the engines and those wonderful carbon fibre cased race gearboxes. Our visit also coincided with the launch of the 599, so there were a few of those out in old the forecourt. I have tons of pics, can't wait till the time I can do it again and would thoroughly recommend it.
Yea I was there and did the tour last week. I have been to Maranello many times, what I did notice was how many set ups there were around were you could drive a Ferrari. It's crazy, it's almost like your constantly being approached every 5 minutes by them back "lucky lucky" boys one gets at Caribbean beaches Maranello has changed. Which Hotel did you stay at? I used to stay at Planet Hotel when it used to be run by Franco, but now due to the new F1 technology centre parking almost non existent. I now stay at Maranello Palace, a first class hotel Did you see the factory clienti FXX room? Wow! Although I was very disappointed that the factory tour does not include the classic department As surreal as it may be, but I sat and had a coke with Emerson Fittipaldi in the Galleria bar, no one else seemed to recognise him, but I did Did you check out the new ENZO Ferrari museum? That Ferrari engine room, wow
I did the tour back in 2011, it was awesome! Here are some pics. That 355 Challenge was also on display when we went in 2014 - I may be wrong, but I think it was driven by Onofrio Triarsi Jr, who won a Challenge championship with it and then went on to win a couple of 458 Challenge championships in car #23. His father, Onofrio Triarsi Sr. is a wonderful gentleman who owns Classic Coach and a couple of Ferrari dealerships. BTW, the museum theme, which changes every 6 months or so, was "California Dreaming" in July 2014, and highlighted Ferraris which raced in California through the years - there are more of them than I would have thought. Also did the factory tour, which may be hohum to some, but I thought it was a very enjoyable and enlightening experience. Being that all phones and cameras had stickers put over the lenses by ferrari staff, because of a strict no photo policy. How the hell did you take them pictures on your tour?
I don't recall any issue with taking pics back in 2006. Getting tough to control these days being as everyone and their dog has a phone in their pocket (well, seemingly glued in their hand if female!).
Oh, i should have gone back in the day then Yeah, every one was asked for phones and the ferrari guide placed stickers on both front and back of the phone. Any one caught taking pictures would be removed from the tour. Its tight now, you are watched and controlled very tightly. Things i thought we would see on the tour, we did not. No classic for example I asked certain questions like, how does ferrari cater for the older models in terms of parts ect, the guide could not answer that. I dont think allot of the older car parts that we 355/360/430 owners order from the factory, are acually made there any more. Which of course is no suprise, but why then can certain parts only be bought through the factory. This is not a question that of course i cant guess the answer to, i am just putting it out there. By the way, my spider attracted allot of attention in Maranello,i was asked if i wanted to sell by a few interested partys 355s rock
They said, "No pictures", but did nothing to prevent them. No obv. camera's out though. Had to be quick, that's why some are blurry. The only thing they didn't show us was the F1 R&D shop. We could take pics in the FXX and F1 area's though. Just nothing on the factory floor. Was kinda interesting to see the "Maserati" and "Ferrari" engines being built side by side, with the only difference being the valve covers...
This is something I don't understand: Ferrari are courteous enough to allow people to come and visit their factory and take a tour of the plant, but ask visitors not to take photographs on the tour, so people abuse Ferrari's hospitality and take photographs anyway! - Why? If Ferrari get fed up with people ignoring their no photograph rule, chances are they'll simply stop allowing people to tour the plant, and then everybody will be moaning that you can no longer see inside the factory!
Not sure why it matters the plant has been filmed and its plastered all over the internet. Maybe F1 stuff but the factory its just that. They know people take photos, if they were really worried you wouldnt be able to bring them inside.
Two weeks ago when i was there, they did take steps. ALL mobile phones were physically taken and coverd by the tour staff with stickers front and rear. NO cameras on our tour were allowed in, they were held at the reception or had a sticker on the lense untill after the tour. The factory pictures posted above are a good few years ago. It seems these days they dont tolerate any pictures of the factory floor. Although there will be some who covertly taking pictures. Which is not a good thing to to because it no doubt screws the scews tighter for those that follow.
Stayed in Milan for a few days, had to be at the factory at 10am Monday the 17th for the factory tour. From Milano I took the train into Modena ( 7:30am ) , taxi from Modena to Maranello ( 20 minute ride ) arrived at the gate at 9:58am. Back in Milan by 6pm the same day. Well worth the day trip.
I will be there in September. Silly question, but....... Any chance of getting my Owner's Manual autographed by anyone special at the factory? Alden
I'm also going this September. I have my tour scheduled on the 29th at 10:00 am. I will have my 8 year old daughter on the trip and she is too young for the tour so my wife and her will have to do something else. What it there to do in Maranello for a 8 year old for a couple of hours?
