Not Enzo. This is an Enzo, chain driven. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Interesting, the two engines, gears and chains, look very similar Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Near identical engines aren't they. Pretty sure the timing gears are in the F50 V12 and the Enzo V12 has the timing chains.
I found some info on the net saying that this is an F140 engine. Formula 1, I think. In this case, retrofitting the timing gears on a 348 would probably be slightly more expensive than...two 348's?
Likely an F1 engine, similar to this. Gear drives are almost never used on street-driven cars. They are expensive and NOISY! Image Unavailable, Please Login
So let me guess, on the chain driven engine you have to drop it every 3 years (or 10,000 miles) to replace the chain guides which look "inexpensive".
The main problem with trying to put timing chains on an engine with a front that wasn't designed for it is not making the drive parts themselves but getting them encased/sealed and oiled.
In the case of Audi S4 it was simple. See... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Remember gear drives also pull HP With the small HP figures the 355 has we need every pony we can get
Yes because that worked out real well for them. No problems with chain tensioner failures at all on that engine...oh...wait....
Yep, which is why I thought it may have been the F50 engine. The F50 is very expensive and extremely 'raw' in regards to how it was built. A "race car for the road" someone once said.
