An amazing thread for an amazing car! I enjoyed Raymonds updates and knowledge over the years and now to see this special car going through this process i just think is fantastic. I will also say, it is very time consuming and tedious to update, inform, and share pictures on a topic like this..so many thanks to Joe for doing this. The work is most impressive and enjoyable to watch, read and learn. Bravo!
Nice car, wrong thread, it belongs in the dedicated the 25th Anniversario thread here http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/lamborghinichat-com-sponsored-cats-exotics/394041-countach-25th-anniversario.html where it can best be appreciated.
Ken, thank you very much for your kind words. As a Downdraft owner I know you get the significance of that engine, and why this thread was created. I'll have a new set of images by midweek next, for all those following - and there are a few! Meanwhile we are trying to faithfully return the car back to as they left the 'line in 1986, but with a few hidden improvements and discreet upgrades. Image Unavailable, Please Login
The first Downdraft I owned was @ 26-28 years ago. Man did I drive that car as fast as it would go, and man do I miss that car! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Brake schematic for the DD updated January the 8th 1985 (off the original December 1979 DGM). Who can say what the differences are? Image Unavailable, Please Login
A few years back I had Valentino over for a week end. Here autographing the air box on my DD. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Judging by the scenery in the background, that looks like here in Australia? Also judging by the quality of the photo, it is a copy from a magazine? If it is, I am pretty sure it comes from an article that either "Wheels" or "Modern Motor" did back at the time when they took 2 Countach's on a road trip down the Great Ocean Road. The other one was a blue one and the cars were supplied by the importer / dealer at the time being "The Toy Shop" in North Sydney. I shall see if I have the magazine still. Regards Matthew
Exactly right! I used it as the green car is indeed Verde Abete, and the green Downdraft from Japan looks to be the same color.
Joe I was at the event on Saturday at Silverstone. You will know your car is owned by one of the twins, Mark and he keeps the car concours all the time. I do tease him a bit about how clean he keeps the car. I was out with Grahams in his ex twiggy SV (which you see in the background) around the track and he managed to get a bit of space to give it a good blast! Great day. Brillaint thread Regards Paul
Paul! Glad to see you over here. Welcome to the Downdraft Owners Club! Here is an excuse to make a gratuitous posting of your fine car in the company of your much-travelled red neighbor. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Would love to know which one this is, actually Blu Acapulco with sport exhaust imaged in 1987, German-registered (HU = Hanau & Main-Kinzig-Kreis, Hesse) Image Unavailable, Please Login
PS - Forgot to say the original owner was a good friend of mine, not me, I owned another Downdraft, people would often confuse us as we went places together.
Here is a vid some might like- the young man is certainly a countach fan (once leaving the garage it becomes more of a Gallardo https://youtu.be/iuhpr0SskpY
Yes posted a couple of times earlier, Downdraft delivered to the Middle East (with rear safety panel), now Italy-based & registered.
I'd die to work in a workshop like that!! Also, I think I recall seeing the Ferrari here on the forum in a restoration thread of a red Countach.
