Met a fellow e36 M3 owner at a body shop. Getting his personal things out of the car after an accident. Told me it was totaled. Realizing that blue book value and e36 sedan's with a 5spd are quite apart i offered to buy it from him. Could have been fixed cheap or a great candidate for a track car. Looked like 2k tops to fix. Buyout was about the same. Car easily worth 10k with under 100k miles. Eric glad your ok, and looking forward to hearing your back in the saddle again.
Considering the worst, this is the best result. Take your time and don't go out and buy something on emotion, like I would.
Well, 430s are coming down quickly. They're not too much more than 360s, and that is a model that I would skip. All this assuming that you can be pried out of the 355 camp. (Rosso Barchetta is a really nice color for 355s.)
Another 355 if you can find one to your liking for similar money as your payout, or a 550 if you want to move into the V12 world. Personally...I don't think there's anything that can replace the experience of a 355. The exhaust note particularly.
I'm with you there Eric. Your definitely too ugly for a spider. Seriously, if you go F430 I think for the money you would have to go with an F1. But that is where I want to be next, so I'm all for it. I have circulation issues with my left foot. Pressing on the 355 clutch isn't helping it. But even at 69 I'm cute. Spider for me.
If you can Eric, have a drive of a few different Ferraris that take your fancy and decide which one you like best.
+1 .... there are some great options in this price range .... look at lots of pics, watch tons of videos, see them in person and test drive as many as you can ......
