I have a 1981 Ferrari 308 GTSi. It has a padded tufted fusebox cover with red, blue and gold stripes to left of model emblem. I have never seen this type of cover on any other Ferrari. Does anyone have info on these fuse box covers? Do they signify something special about car? Thanks for any help you can give me!

Good morning. It appears a previous owner has taken the liberty of recovering your fuse box cover to fit their personal taste. Usually these covers will start to show wear on the corners from installation/removal and not being careful.

Vic's upholstery in Van Nuys, California can easily return that to factory look if you like? Had him completely redo the interior of one of my 308's including this piece. Very happy with the outcome.

Those are the colors of the Columbian flag, although it is horizontal rather than vertical (stripes). That said, I like the look of these in your car. If by chance a previous owner was Columbian, or the car was formerly in Columbia during its ownership history, I would absolutely leave the stripes as-is! Makes for a cool historical discussion piece. If you don't like them, have it put back to stock. Otherwise, enjoy! It's unique and I think in very good taste...in the end, it's your car.

Well I guess my 308's interior is one of a kind! Thanks for the input!

Thanks. Do you mind sharing what a new interior cost from Vics?

Fuse box cover was about $225. Complete interior with me shipping the seats, door panels, new carpet center console, door arm rests and Horse insignia back in the head rests around $8000 plus shipping.

Wow! That's less than I would have thought. I'm selling my car for 58K but with a new interior I might get 20k more. Something to think about. Thanks so much.

Top money will be in fixing all the details you can see......I would go ahead and recover the fuse panel shield.

The upside, you can keep the nose badge as a momento.

I may be wrong, it was definitely no more than $8000 , possibly $7000 and I remember it being almost $500 each Way for shipping after I built a special foam padded box/crate to make sure no pieces were damaged in Transport. Dealing with Vic was super easy, quality, and worth every nickel! Haha!
