Very sad news indeed. I am relatively new member but I did enjoy Ian's posts. More surprising was to know that he lived probably 10 minutes away from me down in Campbell. RIP Ian.
Oh no, that's too bad. He seemed like a really great guy, smart, knowledgeable, yet with a sense of humor and a sense of patience and calm too. He was a really great guy to have around here. His presence will be missed I'm afraid. Hey, if any you guys plan on leaving let us know before hand so we can talk about how great you are before you go. -F
There must be some way to cobble together a biography of Ian and include some of his greatest posts. I'm too computer ignorant to pull this off, but it's gotta be within the realm of possibility, no?
That's a blow. You really hope for the best... fearing the worst. Yet the news still comes as shocking. Ian was always very respectful and thoughtful in his replies... especially to me. It says a lot about a man that a group of F1 fans who really only know each other by stupid online handles and feisty commentary on an online discussion board cared this much to have 17 pages of concern and worry. Thanks Freshmeat for taking the drive and bringing some closure. RIP Ian.
It´s a nice idea....i guess we are all a bit lost and numb to think straight but it would be really nice to do something like that..
Freshmeat - thank you very much. I checked this thread last night before going to bed - was the first thing I looked at this morning. Extremely saddened by the news but great to read how many, like me, found him such a wonderful friend on here. RIP Fast_Ian - you will be missed.
I just noticed this thread he posted back in late May. https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/silver-subscribed-private-forum-sponsored-yellow-compass-group/523205-shipping-container-%24-ca-uk-anyone-any-knowledge.html *sigh*
+1. Not ever meeting him, but great reading his posts. What ever is bothering you today, if you die tomorrow. Today is nothing!!!
he was discussing moving back to the UK from California, primarily to spend more time with his newborn grand daughter
I am just hearing this news......RIP. We had shared a copy of Dr. Watkins book, which revealed a lot, about Ayrton Senna's frame of thought, the day he died....Doc was urging him to retire that weekend He's just pulled two curves ahead of us all, and is now out of our sight. See you at the Finish Line, my friend......
One would think the local newspaper ran an Obit? With his son coming from the UK, to claim him, the Medical Examiner may well have custody.
