    My girl just left....says I am a poor communicator......:D :D

I am actually paraphrasing an old blues guy, on "Harp Attack".....in response to:
    "What ever happened to...?"

"They left us man, they have gone on ahead".....

As this thread shows, our chat site is the modern equivalent to a Front Porch...

"Hand me down that Gibson...and plug it into the Marshall"....
    J.J. Cale

Heaven is filling up with good folks, these past two years....

It would be nice to find a photo...maybe track down his gf.

That would be in the Obit..

When I was in the ER from the Ducati wreck, Valeria asked me to quit introducing her as "my ex-fiancee".....so, thinking of Bullfighter's accident, I said:
"OK, you are my 'long term life partner"......and continued bleeding on the floor.

    That's all you get..(if you don't marry)
    :D :D

My thoughts go out to Ian's family.

It is so sad that he never got a chance to hold that precious little granddaughter. And that she will never know him.

Rest in Peace, Ian. You will be missed by many.

    RIP Ian.

ME will know (but usually releases autopsy to the family).....but it sounds like a side effect of the fall.

Our friend Fast Ian passed prematurely. I am curious how he fell and what role those injuries played in his death...?

Almost certainly the cause was the fall he sufered days before..he kept posting normaly and then it stoped....i can only guess he suddenly felt bad or something and he didn't had the time to reach for help...so tragic...

If you read his injury description, he minimizes it, with the stitches, but mentions a skull fracture.

That's a closed injury, and often the worst kind........exactly like Schumachers.

If they don't remove some bone, bad things happen.
The brain swells with no place to go.

All of this is conjecture, as we really don't know his medical history.

A 'life span' is just what it says......

After my life, I say a prayer of thanks every morning when I see blue sky.
    Rainy days, too.

It could be his picture, it's just that there's another Ian Anderson who's the director of the same company name but it's based in Ireland.

    Best,

    Sammy

This thread just gets more depressing every day. He for sure led an amazing life going by the amount he had to tell, though. He had a great love for the ocean, something we connected on and talked about at times, either on here or PM.

A stand up man. My favourite time I've spend on this forum when he would tell stories from the past, old tracks, old drivers, whatever...it was all fantastic. The stories normally came out of the blue as well.

    I'll truly miss you, Ian.

Sounds very similar to what happened to Natasha Richardson (Liam Neeson's wife). Things seem normal, then, *poof* they're gone. :(

    +1

As if the news of Ian's death wasn't hard enough to take already, the fact that he will never get to be a a part of his Grand daughter's life is just too upsetting for words!

Sometimes life is unfair beyond belief! :(

I doubt brain swelling was a factor here. Sounds more like an aneurysm. Basically what killed the last F1 driver; many months after the original injury and surgery.

MS had brain swelling combined with serious brain injury, a different scenario again

    RIP Ian.

I'm sure this is extremely remote, but wondering...
Since f-chat has visibility with FNA, and possibly further up the corporation, I'm curious what it would take to for The Scuderia to run a small "RIP, Ian" sort of moniker at one of the GPs?
Probably next to impossible, but I couldn't think of a better tribute to such a super fan as he was.

    Unlikely

About 10 years ago two FChatters died at the Ring. I knew both personally. Back then I was the president of the local Ferrari Club so for the next event we made such tribute signs for our fallen friends and displayed them on the dashboards of our Ferraris. Something small like that touches a community and is easy to implement

Perhaps Rob could allow an 'in memoriam of Fast Ian' at the top of the F1 section?

This thread guts me every time I go into the F1 section. He was one of the many reasons I was here. I feel like part of my internet 'family' or whatever one would call it these days, consortium I guess, is gone.

There is the section of dead Ferrari people on FChat. Would be a great honor to Ian to have his own thread next to Gilles and Enzo

this is sad news indeed. it makes me feel so sad knowing that all of our lives change so suddenly...so often. many of us have been members of this site for so long. we have developed friendships that have become very real. when we lose a member and a friend, it does leave a mark.

rest in peace ian. you will be missed.

    RIP Ian.

I do not recall him ever being rude or ugly to anyone, he was always a friendly and optimistic guy. A rare bird in the F1 section ;). I don't pretend to have known him well, but he will be missed.

    So sad.

    Rest in Peace Ian.

Condolences to all his Family and Friends.

Albeit the outcome made it a sad trip, Thanks Freshmeat for taking the trouble to go and investigate.
