Yep food porn. I'm not a big fan of mushrooms. But can eat them with other things that reduce the taste of them. Includes sautéed with onions or on pizza.

Whenever I smoke, it's usually for a large party with the main course being shoulders, brisket or both but as a matter of course, I will throw in a chicken or two and some sausages, just to take advantage of the opportunity.

Funny thing is, the those are the ones I enjoy the most.

It's neck and neck as to whether smoked chicken or rotisserie chicken is better, but definitely chicken is one of the more underappreciated smoked meats. Especially, if you brine it first.

Chef salad again. The skies teased us with rain, but alas no relief from the heat. My grandma used to say, eat hot food in the summer, you'll sweat & it'll cool you off. The old gal was right about a lot of things, so worth a try. I made some hot salsa with tomatillos & dried arbol peppers that I bought over the weekend.

    http://whatscookingamerica.net/KarenCalanchini/SmokeyChileSalsa.htm

    Was good with tortilla chips.

I call BS on grandma...well sort of. Sweating does help you cool off. ;) I had a discussion years ago with a friend's dad. He swore up and down the best way to fell better when it's hot out was to take a HOT shower instead of a cold one. He figured that way your body temp was closer to the hot outside temps. I disagreed then and I still do. There is nothing that feels better when it's all hot and sticky outside than to finish a luke warm shower by turning the water gradually colder and colder. I still do it this way and usually feel much better after doing so.

    Seven grain salad.

With my workout and the cost of this hotel i had to save a bit. Budget now is at 30 a day for breakfast lunch and dinner. Its possible but i like orange juice will bring my it up. So i figured for 20 i picked up a little orange juice, chicken wings, turkey cold cuts for breakfast and this.

Save a little, eat healty, and have a nice steak soon!

You joke, but I've thought about how to rig my rotisserie to work with my 22.5 Weber bullet! 😀 The seal with the rotisserie would make temperature control of the smoker a chore. So, something like rib roast/prime rib that is smoked at relatively high temps could be roto-smoked (I should trademark that!) I think, but chicken. Hmm. Could use tin foil to help improve the seal. Gotta think more!!

    T

Just ran out back while the dog was doing her evening patrol of the fence lonee, and you can fit the roto to the Weber bullet. Big gap, not so bad that it couldn't be sealed with foil. Hmm. Need chicken. Break out the brine bucket!

Hey now, Jdubbya! Grandma had infinite patience, but if you sassed her, you were guaranteed to get smacked upside the head with her big wooden spoon! 😀

Thanks all! And Zudnic, this is the only way I can eat them as well. I toss a whole yellow onion, 10oz. or so of mushrooms, a bit of garlic, butter and soy sauce in a large, covered skillet and simmer on low for about an hour. It smells incredible and doesn't taste too bad either.

My guilty pleasure.. If I wait until 8PM to go grocery shopping all of these goodies are marked down significantly. And who can pass up a deal? I love my grocery run meal nights, I typically finish in the car before I get home.:D

Ooh, a video. Cool! I saw the pics in a different thread, but it'll be nice to see it in action. That looks like a commercial smoker...T

Grab a meat lovers deal at Panago and their taco pizza last night. Having the meat deal for breakfast and lunch today.

I'm not a big breakfast eater. But the doctor suggested I start having something to start the day. Says it should kick start the metabolism and make loosing the few pounds I want to get rid of easier. Last two years, gone from a slim 165 to almost 200 now. Want to be nearer to the 165.

You have dairy, meat, veggies and grains all in one meal. Sounds like a winner to me.

My wife bought a 6 lb bag of whey protein for the MIL @ Costco, who after one taste decided she didn't like it. So, I've been having protein shakes for breakfast - whey powder + piece or two of fresh fruit, couple of tbsp of plain yogurt, skim milk. Blitz with stick blender. Keeps me full for a good chunk of the day. Light lunch at work...T

Depending on the brand some of those brands at Costco are absolutely undrinkable.

Yep... I know he meant good breakfast choices. But I felt lazy this morning. :)

Luckily several places around here sell farm fresh free range eggs. $3.50 to $4.00 per dozen. For better breakfast choices.

I really like vanilla. A Mexican friend of mine goes to Mexico every year and brings me back vanilla and cigarettes. He became a US citizen few years ago. Says the way Mexico works, they can label it as real vanilla, but it could be extract. As for the smokes, their cigs are more like mine VS American. Super cheap in Mexico.

I went on a cruise once, and there were a boat load (pun intended) of people selling and buying Mexican vanilla at one of the ports of call. Couldn't tell it's provenance, but prices were no better than what you'd find in a bodega down here in Texas.

A few articles pro and neutral on expensive extracts...

Bought some ground turkey breast last night and threw together some spicy taco/burrito/whatever mix. Threw in some onion, garlic, bell pepper, and a couple jalapenos. Only had a couple taco size flour tortillas in the fridge so that was dinner last night. For lunch today fried up a couple eggs and threw 'em over the leftover meat mixture. Both were tasty!
