Unofficial 308 tool kit specifications

As I thought! You can have the whole kit for $615.

 

The "generic" tool roll provided by the factory for all models of 1970 / 1980 cars, as a replacement for the original ones, in its last itteration, isn't it?

Specific to 308 and 328. Don't want to disclose the vender publicly but you can read the little words in one of the screen shots.

Well, I maybe wrong on this but I think that the one for which you posted the pics above is indeed the last factory replacement tool roll produced a few years ago, possibly with the addition of the spark plug tool by the seller (?). That would explain the fact that the tools are still marked "Ferrari", but that this, as said by the add, could no longer be guaranteed...
But I'm guessing here.

Very interesting. It certainly would be a good fit for some California rock star's stunningly better-than-new Dino 308 GT4.

 

I'm not sure if that kit was official Ferrari issued several year ago. But I'm more inclined to the brand name infringement possibility and therefore, being cracked down once found out by Ferrari. I'd rather be more conservative about these kits until proven otherwise

 

What I do know is that the "factory replacement tool roll" for 3x8s did evolve during the period it was available; it went from solid black handles screwdrivers (with the white Ferrari script) and full Kravm wrenches set, to a mixed set of wrenches, part Kravm, part another brand later, to different screwdrivers, etc...but I can't say when they stopped selling it.
To the best of my knowledge, it never had the spark plug tool, nor the specific pocket for it at right of the pliers

I emailed the former owner of the 308 qv. a very respected f chat member. He stated he ordered the tool kit from Ferrari. -arrived in usual Ferrari package--so nerofer is correct!

 

Thanks Anthony, that's what I had in mind; I didn't take written notice of all the variations in the "factory replacement tool roll", (the variations of the original OEM one are enough...) but my impression was indeed that the one illustrated above was its last official itteration.

thats crazy money, but we are all rich right! HAA. The spark plug wrench has the indent balls missing, they get corroded. I bought one and spent hours trying to get the handle off! I have 2 perfect sets just like that for my 2 dinos. I think he may have had some of that replated.

I was joking with a friend at work, a guy trys to carjack you and says "pop the trunk! All I want are your tools!"

I just saw Marks joke. I already posted this, but both of my sets have the rare plaid inside. I met someone here I think that has it on his jack kit, forgot who it was but we were trying to get the other to switch pouches!

Thx for taking the effort to confirm the source. As Bruno said, the factory replacement kits are another category of complexity and I think it will take many years to gather adequate info of them.

 

Robert the one I have also has the ball seized up. I also tried to loose it up to get the rod off but was impossible. I came to conclusion they are built like that and are not removeable. Can someone confirm?

 

Hi guys, since the sale of my 308 to Tony, and my purchase of a 360, I've been away trolling on the 360 section....

Regarding 308 tool kits: As discussed with many FCA judges and Factory workers....Regarding the pliers... Those were the pliers that came with my OEM tool kit from Ferrari (even came in a Ferrari labeled box from the factory). Now, as discussed before, back in the day, oftentimes tool kits and tool rolls were very inconsistent. I've been told that factory workers oftentimes threw together groups of tools and spanners that made up the kit. Whatever was on the shelf was thrown together. I've investigated this inconsistency with FCA judges and they have confirmed this problem. Those pliers could very well go to another model or year... Your guess is as good as mine, however I do know that when my vehicle was judged, they passed muster with flying colors.

I think someone else also mentioned about the seizing of the rod some time before, BigTex perhaps?

The rod should be removable as far as I know.

 

No the balls should move they had a spring in there. My 75 ones work! The one I got in great condition had both balls frozen and the arm on. I have a buddy who is a master metal crafstman and we spent several hours trying to fix it. They can be drilled out. I ended up pounding, heating 20 ton press until my one ball was flat with the shaft and it came out. My buddy says you can drill them out like in the 5K set online and put a spring in there and a ball and crimp it. At this point I lost intereset polished it and put it in the pouch! HAA

 

I would stick my neck out and say: "end of the nineties", as:
- the screwdrivers are still the "deep red tranlucent handle with white Ferrari script" (they went to solid black handles during the 2000s);
- the wrenches are all Kravm and uniform in design, the serie of eight is perfectly identical
- the pliers have a silver beak, not black/dark gunmetal as in the eighties and the beginning of the nineties.
- the Allen wrench with plastic handle is the same as the one in the 360 tool kit (and I wonder why there is one here?)
