What watch are you wearing today?

So the box dilemma still kind of remains.

Another interesting thing about the watches complexity, according to my watchmaker, is that it is more complicated to work on than some other automatic watches because the rotor for the automatic winding mechanism is sandwiched in the middle of the movement, i.e., if you take off the back of the watch you can't immediately tell it's an automatic.......can't see the rotor. That is interesting and somewhat unique.

 

It was the first automatic chrono movement available. It was made in partnership with Breitling and some others. Cool bit of movement history.

 

Distinctive yet functional. Very nice!

I am fortunate to live in city where Audemars has it's North American service center and they very friendly...so I have been collecting vintage Royal Oaks..this is my latest rescue. I consider these the most interesting of my little collection. It's a great read if one googles the history of the Series A Royal Oaks.
