    This is a very rare 1992 (not 1991) Maserati track car for sale.
    Maserati produced only 17 of them (some say 16) for a single make Italian race series in the early 90's, and this is the only one they kept as a FACTORY TEAM CAR.
    This particular car gathered the most race victories of all of them.


    Specifics:

    - Chassis #: THBCMS"LLA"
    - 2.0L (Twin-Turbo'd) V6 Producing 315 Horsepower
    - 6-speed ZF (Straight-Cut) Manual Transmission
    - Aluminum Honeycomb/Carbon Fiber Body
    - Curb Weight: 1,995 Pounds
    - Maserati Certificate of Authenticity

    In 1993, after the GranTrofeo Series was scrapped, Maserati SpA sent this car to Dallara in Italy and later to Pregliasco.
    It then went to Japan in the early thousands, until it was exported to California in late 2014.

    Would make a great weekend track car for a Maserati/Ferrari enthusiast. As you can probably guess, due it's fly-weight and 315 horsepower, it is a VERY exciting and nimble car to drive.

    Yes, definitely a rare piece of history. Probably could get it DOT approved for road use as well if you lived in a more lenient state than California.

    There's one in PA a couple of hours from me. It was shown at a New Hope concours years ago now. AFAIK it never gets run though. The photos I took are those used in the registry.

    The factory also did a limited cup car series in 95-96 with more horsepower based upon a stripped out Ghibli II model.

    I love these things. The prototype road car Maserati Chubasco would have used a very similar chassis and it really should have been built. I believe the Chubasco proto is at the Panini museum....

    Being 25+ years old now, it is DOT exempt, which is great, and does have headlamps and a BMW V8 that was used in the mid-90's 540i's so most of the parts are there. As i said, if you live in a lenient state that doesn't go over it with a magnifying glass like in California, it is quite possible.
