Incredible progress and just amazing to see .. I also second the request of more details and pictures under the front hood. I love seeing this as this car has a special meaning to me, much like the Cannonball car to most!
Thanks for these old photos, Bruno. Hard to believe that my Countach shell could be amoung all those bodies! Mine has a June 1986 build date. Mike
Ken, the guys are so busy with the build ATM, so besides these images, what I will do is, when I take delivery I will get you some real close-ups of specific areas you need, at your direction. Its difficult to see in these images, but, the caulking was done by a true artist with a steady hand and decades of experience https://stevekouracos.com/about/ The net result was as nice as Ive ever seen. His secret: he adds some talcum-powder to the mix to give it that old-time factory grey-black color! Valentino can't get enough of the suspension, it looks like he wants to climb in there! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Going round the car there are just a few things needing rectification that catch my eye Image Unavailable, Please Login
+1 - My car is 9/86 production. It could very well be somewhere in those photos. Not quite sure how long total build took once a chassis got on the line. Love the old pictures.
I never thought I'd see the day, but I just received the first of multiple sets of P7s I bought. In only recommending what I do myself, I suggest anyone who owns a 1978 to 1988 Countach take advantage of this opportunity and get sets whilst available!! As promised, we would support any effort to supply these tires, and that's exactly what we are doing. Thank you Dougal [email protected] and & Tom, fast & efficient, the tires were here in no time at all, all we need is production for the P7 rears (which Valentino tells me is in the works) to happen and we are all set. Details of the tires are in the other thread http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/144827309-post148.html and Longstone's contact info is: Tom Homan | Longstone Tyres | Borrani UK [email protected] www.longstone.com | www.borrani.co.uk Tel:+44 (0) 1302 711 123 | Fax:+44 (0) 1302 710 113 VAT:182 6293 47 Hudson's Yard, Doncaster Road, Bawtry, Doncaster, UK, DN10 6NX Can't wait for the rears! Do we know how much these new P7's are? I looked on their website and all they show are the P-Zero model. Mike
joe, in post 3727 re paint stick, was it applied at the factory? if so, the handwriting looks "american english" and not "italian english". hope it explained it clearly.
I think you missed the link in my post? Price is there, as posted by Longstone: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/144827309-post148.html Very reasonable too, IMVHO, accordingly I purchased multiple sets. As they say, make hay...
No, it was applied by me, here in California, where the car is being restored. Since the car was completely restored, all stickers are new. That said, earlier in the thread, another owner kindly posted the location of said PPG sticker which was applied at the factory, so my main concern was using an authentic sticker in the right location. We noted that the Downdrafts had the sticker on the underside of the rear trunk (passenger side) with the name hand-written in, whereas by the time they got to the 25ths, the sticker was moved to the underside of the front hood and the name was typed in. The name "Bordeaux Speciale" is as noted in GLA12997's records, confirmed to me by Valentino Balboni and Patrick Mimran. The good news is, I have another blank PPG paint sticker, just in case.
Hi Joe: Thanks! i just checked that link but they only show prices for the 205 or 225 fronts. Nothing on the 345 rear. Mike
Yes Mike, that's why my initial post on the P7s includes "all we need is production for the P7 rears (which Valentino tells me is in the works) to happen and we are all set" & "Can't wait for the rears!", stated in anticipation of the yet-to-be-produced rears. Naturally, if Pirelli see significant interest in the fronts, the rears will follow.
Best we could do tonight. Note windscreen in the foreground. All hooked up, on-the-ground and ready to rumble. Excuse the cellphone pic. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Wow! A true milestone in the re-birth process of this wonderful automobile! To be framed together with her pic on the assembly line!
Excellent work, once again. These photos make me that much more excited to have my LP400 S3 restored by Chris and his team. I have no doubt it will be among the best out there once he's completed it.
