If I can offer my humble opinion, after reading all the negative opinions on the sound/feel of the 488 I was seriously concerned that I had traded in my Speciale for the new Spider. All of that anxiety disappeared after 5 minutes of driving. The 488 is truly an amazing vehicle, and although everybody compares the two in relation to track timing, cornering, suspension, etc. the 488 is the MOST capable street car I have owned (including the Speciale). Whoever started the concern about the "Sound Crisis" clearly has has not owned nor will likely ever own this vehicle. The sound is intoxicating, and the addition of the turbo whine is spectacular. The acceleration is intense and doesn't stop pulling no matter the gear. To me, it actually FEELS faster than the Speciale, and quite frankly that is all that matters in the real world. Finally, the body is a much more modernized look, so much so that the 458 actually looks dated......already. Needless to say, I love this car!

Nor would I. I've driven the F40 a few times. Fun but the Speciale is MORE fun. :)

Try a 675 LT and you won't think the Speciale "hard edged" feels like a ***** cat, but still awesome.

Absolutely agree! Do you have the capristo switch for the valve? It seems too quiet with it on at idle.

I had a hard wired switch installed and it make a very nice difference on the low end.

As soon as I can, I would order a 488 Spider. They are for 2 different occasion. Would it be nice to drive a top down in the mountains. I missed doing that after I sold my 911 TT cab.

That would be a sweet addition.

Had a local guy install the switch for me. It's flush mounted under the steering column. The dealer wanted to take the bumper off and 12 hours of labor, plus the $700 kit. It would have been more than $2500. I had it done for a total of $1000.

Wow!! The 2 look great together :) I am busy putting together my order for the 488 Spider. I must admit I have had a few reservations with the turbocharging... After reading this, feeling like it is a good decision!!

Why not just get the Capristo remote? You can run fuly open, fully closed or auto. No wires, no switches in the dash, just a fob.

I believe the tri layers like Fuoco is like 28k.

The wiring of the Capristo is exactly the same except to the interior, which wasn't difficult. With a fob you need to put it somewhere and not loose it, replace batteries, and pay well over $1000 more.

    True

But I'm sure some future owners won't buy a used car with some kind of aftermarket switch in the dash. I personally don't like to see non-OEM installs in car dashes - especially exotics. As for the fob, there's usually a way.

The switch is mounted down low under the steering column. It can be easily removed without a mark or being visible. That being said, anyone that buys the 488 will appreciate the valve control and be thankful. That was certainly the case with my 458.

Seriously you will love it. Yes just like the video stated, doesn't have the scream of the 458 Speciale but man can it drive and handle.

458 Spider to 488 Spider, much much better. I do have the capristo on my 458 Speciale and does give the droning noise...but the 488 Spider is too quiet on the low range.

Good luck with the specs, let us know what you put together.

Thank you so much :) I'm actually getting very excited... Particularly after watching the new AutoExpress review.

I have put together a preliminary spec. I've managed to secure a March 2017 Build so got a bit of time to change.

Let me know what you think :)

I believe You are on the right way.
Looks consistant to me. It's a "sporty" spec.
    I like it!

Yeah!! They are the grey ones :) think they look stunning. I have the matte grey on the F12 as well as Speciale! :)
