They are making a damn good profit is what they are doing... People that are confused by Ferrari's business practices obviously have never worked in the high end collectible field. Ferrari does it all right.
Bingo! They've been doing this since the 50's when Enzo was in charge. What's interesting is they CAN restrict the product as they do! THAT says something about your product doesn't it! If Ford even tried that model they'd be bankrupt but Ferrari is sold out for 2 years in advance.
Ford is doing it with the gt. Just like they did with the last one. GM will do the same with the mid engine corvette.
Ferrari understands the sociology of the people wanting to be part of the "Ferrari World." For a great many of these people it isn't about money, they have that in spades, it is about wanting to join the "country club," the lifestyle, the international drama. Ferrari having mastered that sociology can then sit back and say, "If you're not with us...you're against us." I don't need faster, I don't need YouTube drag races; I need the aura, the mystique, the experience. If I want to get drunk I can drink vodka from the bottle...but I don't want that...I want to enjoy a beautifully crafted wine...the buzz is a secondary byproduct, and not the best part.
Point being with EVERY car in their inventory. Sure make people wait for a Mustang.. they'll go and buy a Camaro.
Hmmm........ There's quite a bit of misinformation contained within that video! - Such as: ".....If you put your LaFerrari up against a P1 then Ferrari will take your car away from you!...." Really? - They may decide to never sell you one of their Hypercars ever again, but I seriously doubt that they have the legal right to confiscate your privately owned car because you drove it on the same piece of tarmac as a McLaren P1! As for the rest of the video, two things I got from it were: 1) The guy making the video doesn't really understand what Ferrari's FXX and Corse Clienti programmes are all about. 2) He sounds like a spoilt child who's been told they can't play with a toy! (TBH, as he was whining and b:censoring:ing, all I could really hear was: "Wah......wah........wah.....wah....." like a baby crying!) What he seems to fail to understand is that both programmes are an amazing opportunity that Ferrari offer (for those that can afford it of course), and they're programmes that Ferrari do not have to offer. You don't like the terms that Ferrari put in place to participate in both programmes? - Don't bother taking them up then! And it's the same with Ferrari's Hypercars - They don't have to supply you a car just because you have the money and want one (as certain people now trying to sue Ferrari have found out), and if you don't like the terms and conditions that they set out in order to own one, you don't have to buy it. Ferrari are very open and honest about their various terms and conditions, so why are people so surprised or outraged by them? As I say, you don't like the terms and conditions?: go somewhere else then! - It's hardly rocket science!
In Europe there are Ferrari dealers who own all sorts of lower end marques as well. Second off, there is absolutely nothing wrong with a company introducing certain restrictive practices in order to keep quality high. I don't get why people think they need 'freedom of choice' for absolutely everything? Most can't even wear clothing properly... The racing programs are expensive and they are there for enjoyment not to turn everything into an Internet discussion about XX vs YY and post quantitative stats all day that mean nothing in the real world. When you are on the race track having a great time you hardly care about 0.02 sec in lap differences, that is mostly for people who will never own or drive these cars anyway. The most successful organizations are those that understand the 'customer is NOT always right'. Take even Apple, fully restrict what goes on the store and that keeps quality higher than Google store full of trash. Quality is a rigid hierarchy it is not pseudo-democracy or rants about 'freedom'. Catering to the formless masses results in a monotone society like the US where no matter what state you are in all local choice has been replaced by Walmarts and Targets. It's ironic that the bastion of freedom resembles a type of USSR run by private interests. Sorry to tell everyone but people who know what they are doing should be running the show and the rabble needs to know and respect its place. This goes for organizing any society or else we quickly turn into the cesspool that most of the West has become. Regardless of track times or quantitative comparisons if you line up the P1 LaF and 918, people will always go for LaF including all top tier journalists. Proper powerplant V12, proper use of hybrid(without being lame), proper use of aerodynamics without being overly vulgar with wings. These are street cars not 'track cars'. Ferrari's 'elitism' is what gives the cars personality.
Taking this guy's word is like thinking you are going to get the truth from the Madoff family. Corse Clienti - allows you to take your car home with you... BUT you also then have to pay to have it serviced back at the Factory etc...and if you want to run it at your local track you pay for the crew to come run it for you. the software etc.. is proprietary to Ferrari... so even if you are daddy warbucks .. I think it makes sense to let them keep and store the car. vs, all the back and forth. if you want one to look at , for the house - they'll sell you a Marketing car, - no engine etc.... why does he have to swear so much? I think it really degrades his credibility.
well this guy does other segments where he "hot boxes" topics...yes, he sits in a luxury car with a buddy or two and smoke weed while waxing poetic on car topic du jour sadly he has a huge audience. 340k subs, 45mm views on YT alone.
That's very interesting. 45MM views is worth roughly $45K. He better get 45MM views a month. FYI - looked online. He had 45MM views since 2010. Just watch a show. it was entertaining. I'm wonder what cars he drives. Does he own a 918?
Exactly. Dealers make more money off trades and resale than the 2 or 3 new cars they sell a month. Then there's parts and service and financing. He just happened to forget that. And, you can flip 4 458's accords a month and make as much money as 50 Honda Accords. If there was no money in owning a Ferrari Dealership no one would have one.
I have a life rule. If someone is wrong about something, thats fine. We all make mistakes. If someone seems to be intentionally manipulative to make a point, then that means I discredit everything they say/do/post from then on.
I dunno, something's always seemed a little fishy about this guy. Millions of dollars in exotics in his drive way (in a house that he allegedly is renting and doesn't own)? Says he makes his money producing movies that no one has ever heard of? Render me suspicious.
