Well of course it's different. One is a sauce that goes with seafood, the other is hamburger. Sorry couldn't resist bustin your chops, I know you meant tartare. It was a sweltering 93+ here today so had a nice cool Jimmy John's sammich for lunch/dinner.
We started the bottle deposit deal. I think it got killed in WA for some reason in the 1980's. I shouldn't say all of WA. I just know smaller towns don't do recycling. Like Wenatchee, Lynden, etc. Here its gone crazy. Not only recycle. We also collect compost from food scraps, egg shells and coffee grounds. We have bins for that now. Its almost zero garbage now.
93?!? I think they sent our weather to you. It was mid 70s and rainy in Dallas. Did rib eye steaks on the gas grill. Our friend is getting knee replacement surgery & we wanted to get a good meal in her before she goes under the knife next week. She got them at WinCo, which comes from out your way (Pacific Northwest) & are starting to pop up here in DFW. Not bad, not as good as Costco prime, a tad better than Kroger select. About $9/lb she said. Served with carrots and twice baked (twice microwaved is closer to the truth!) potatoes...T
Raw is the best way to eat everything! Thinking restaurant heart attack lasagna tonight. Hitting 90 again. Too hot to cook at home with no AC. Lasagna is good cold.
Met my Dad for a late lunch. Luckily the restaurant was up the street from my go to Greek/Italian place....... Milestones is an ok semi upscale chain. Tad on the pricey side considering two clubhouse sandwiches and two pops was $50 with tip.
Sounds good. Yeah it's been toasty here and is again today. Official high says 91 but my thermometer on my back deck read 98 at one point. It's probably a bit optimistic but it was hotter than 91. Only supposed to hit about 70 tomorrow though!! Gonna need a coat! I have a small skirt steak marinating in chipotle/beer marinade and some chicken soaking in a peanut sauce/beer marinade. Will probably fire up the grill once the weather cools a bit and have a late dinner.
Wow. That is pricey. Hope the sandwiches were good. Tonight was smoked salmon. Jalapeno cream cheese. Toasted bagel. Thin slice of tomato. Fresh cracked. A sprinkle of dill. Served with a side salad of crumbled goat cheese, diced cukes, grape tomatoes, salt, pepper, garlic powder, olive oil, balsamic vinegar. T
Went a little over the top today with the lady but it was good! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Compromised with the missus and did the filets at 132 for 2 hours. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Couldn't you just sear hers for longer to make it a bit more done? Or toss hers in the oven while you are finishing prepping everything else before you sear them? I dunno the compromise still looks amazingly tasty anyway!!
So the steak was actually a flat iron steak. Don't think I've ever cooked one before but I will look for it again. It was amazingly tender and very flavorful. I just threw it in a baggy this morning with some Stubbs Chipotle butter and some beer. Threw it on the grill for about 3-4 minutes then 1/4 turn for marks and same on the other side. Could have cooked it a bit less but even though it was more medium than rare it was still really, and I mean really tender. Like cut it with your fork tender. Great little cut of meat. Also threw some corn on the grill and the chicken breasts I had marinated in peanut sauce and beer, same way as the beef, just threw it in a baggy and let it sit in the fridge. Threw together a salad with tomatoes and cucumber from the garden and dinner was served. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Man, that's yummy looking. Flat iron was a trendy cut a while back, and prices rose quite a bit. Seem to have returned to normal. It's a nice, flavorful cut of meat. Your prep is textbook...T
Club wasn't worth the price. Same with the fries. I picked up a lasagna on the way home. More for today's dinner. Their club on the menu says signature dish. Dinner Menu I wouldn't go that far in calling a signature dish! They've updated their menu. It was more steakhouse. They had margarita's in a fish bowl. It was a good place for drinks and dinner dates. Now not so much.
Love duck! Great looking plate. Last night I made chicken couscous soup, mainly because I had left couscous. Used this recipe... http://soupaddict.com/2015/01/couscous-chicken-soup/ Left out the leeks (didn't have them) and lemongrass (wife doesn't like it). Tasty, but couscous got mushy on me. Turned into a porridge. I think next time I'd add couscous (if already cooked) much closer to the end of the simmer...T
BBQ'd with friends yesterday. Did a nice Salmon filet, some portabellas, and some jalapenos on the grill. I also grabbed some tasty looking scallops and wrapped them in bacon. It was a great meal with a salad and tasty "dump cake" dessert my friend's Mom brought over.
