I liked the song I Alone, even if I thought the video for it vacilated between silly & creepy. Totally different genre. Georgy Girl by The Seekers, who I didn't know were Australian until watching this clip of them on the Ed Sullivan show. Always loved Judith Durham's voice. https://youtu.be/HONGF8jHFyc T Edit - one more gem by The Seekers. https://youtu.be/hqMZePE7SQk
Throwing back for today! If anyone needs an afternoon pick-me-up, give this a listen. "Love/Hate" by Betty Blowtorch. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=00kMxJ2ATTo
The last Tragically Hip concert live from Kingston Ontario on CBC....... Glad I did see them live several times, small clubs and even full out music festivals. One of the best bands live at any venue. Sad they are no longer!
I'm listening to Rage Against The Machine on Pandora at the beach with headphones , cigar and the F car too. Two thumbs way up.
Its a rare week that goes by that songs from Raskasta Joulua do not cause my speakers to light up. I love the Finnish Rock/Metal vocals, Christmas music to enjoy year round. https://youtu.be/YNl3rzXTkqw
I'm glad you enjoyed my attempt at sophomoric humor. I've been listening to The Tragically Hip. Never really on my radar. Crazy popular with our Canadian friends...T
You really do have to be Canadian to understand. The hip were and are the music of Canada. I'm glad they stayed true and didn't sell out.
Nice pick. Thank you. Wife and I were pondering which version of "The Night They Drive Dixie Down" we liked better. She's a fan of the Baez version, I still like Levon Helm's version with The Band...T
Agreed. I was never into folk music until I met my wife. She loves all that genre, and I've grown to appreciate it too. Post up some of your faves! T
Something new for today! "Take Me Down" by The Pretty Reckless. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_nrlsUvbKTs
Something different! Moon River by Henry Mancini. Any excuse is a good excuse to enjoy the transcendent beauty of Audrey Hepburn. https://youtu.be/Q7SI7N22k_A T
Two for today.... "Come Original" by 311. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KWo-02Hsab4 "Do You Right" by 311. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z4EzzVfTFsY
I haven't had the chance to delve into the genre and find what strike me as hidden gems. (I've asked at least one musicologist to recommend a book on folk music. No answer.)
Blast from the past. These dudes had their 15 minutes in the 90s. Forgot about 'em. 😀 If you like them, try some songs by Sublime, if you've not checked them out. The kings of 90s rap/reggae/ska sub-genre IMO. Think I posted this a long while back... https://youtu.be/AEYN5w4T_aM T
