    A big oak tree is what cushioned the impact of the B-17 tail section that my buddy, Joe Jones , rode down from 13.000 ft. and survived.

    Can't imagine what a scary ride that must have been. The feeling of elation must have been incredible once he realized he survived..

    The feeling of surviving didn't come until 7 days later when woke up in a British field hospital with a huge incision in his belly from being reassembled from his injuries.
